That was a horrible article. He had the right idea but it died on execution (excuse the pun). Labeling people stupid is just as bad as labeling them as (take your pick of the word). Labeling people is an ignorant person’s way of categorizing them and taking away people’s humanity. Calling someone a nigger is an excellent example. Calling someone stupid is another good example, just not as good as the previous one.

Agreed. I’ve personally been accused of being gay on more than one occasion simply for pointing out how horrible Christians are towards homosexuals, and how wrong it is. It’s annoying and retarded. A lot of Christians out there need to learn to stop labeling and redefining whatever/whoever disagrees with them. Not all of them have that problem, but damn… so many do.

Yes this my exact problem at home, first off Jesus was angry at the pharissees because they held religious concepts but had no heart for their followers.

Atheist, you don’t need to favor them either. I don’t like the beliefs. So I probably best not be friends with them. Only because eventually they’ll go preachy pants on you. If not they aren’t really paying attention to their own dogma/biblical beliefs… so they really aren’t even Christian…although why is it I have no problems with other Religious people? Because they don’t impede on your peace, they don’t oppose you or judge that you aren’t Hindu or Buddhist or blah blah blahdy dah their beliefs when you just want to talk about music or a hobby or even a roll of toilet paper. Christians act as if the world gangs up on them, but they also cause that by getting in your face….so it’s a result of natural law. tolerance is the foundation of our country. I am a 13 yr old and i get that. people came here to worship how they want to. we have to give each other time to explane there side of the story. we can not be jutict or fair minded if we attack in thing that is different. now I am saying that to nonchristains and christains we dont have to except it we all jusst have to listen. some times I think we hear but were do not listen. we should not prosiut others for if we do NO love or peace will come. Deny God exists to a modern day Christian and they will call you a fool. Say that Jesus was only a prophet and they will try to convert you. Tell them the bible is full of lies and they will say they’ll pray for you. But tell a modern day Christian their pastor is a phony or a hypocrite and they will call for your blood. They will despise you and wish all kinds of evil upon you if you slight their church, leaders or fellow hypocrites.
The word of God says†A man cannot serve God and mammon, or two masters. He will hate one and love the other. It is very clear when you encounter the abovementioned scenario, that Christians do indeed love their church, pastor, music artist, evangelist, etc. more than God. It is a true statement to say that Christians serve their church more than God. I have seen blatant worship of Pastors, Evangelists, Authors, Christian music “artistsâ€, and others in the limelight of Christianity. It is not just a few Christians who follow them but it is the norm in Christian circles today. They love to put down other religions and cults but don’t you dare criticize any Christian endeavor. You will be blacklisted if you own a business, shunned in restaurants and stores by people you know who are Christians, and the worst is the actual prayers for your demise that Christians offer up to their false God, Baal-Jesus. Christians are the best haters in society today. They excel at gossip, slander, and a variety of retaliatory actions legal or otherwise against their enemies.
Many profess to be “Christianâ€, yet you never hear them confess Jesus before men. They confess to being a Baptist, a Catholic, a Mormon, and a Christian, just to name a few. A woman came into my store once and in sharing our faith with one another she exclaimed, “I just love Pastor Jeff and my church!†To which I replied, “I just love Jesus!†“Humph! Well so do I!†She quickly added. Actually, she spoke out of the abundance of her heart, as the word says, and confessed her first love. It is a common trait of church people. They love their church, pastor, priest, Rabbi, Pope, Prophet, or leaders more than the Lord. Just listen to them long enough and I guarantee you they will talk about these things 90% or more of the time verses Jesus and God. It is especially entertaining, and sad to hear these followers of man discuss doctrines of their perspective church. They quote things taught to them by man and think it’s scripturally sound. Jer23 says,†They steal words from one another and say it’s from Meâ€, says the Lord. Funny how a prophetic word thousands of years ago is so apropos today!
“I believe in Jesus so that makes me a Christian.†So? I believe in Buddha, does that make me a Buddhist? You cannot say you don’t believe in Buddha if in fact he lived and breathed on this earth. I do not practice his teachings and follow Buddha, nor do I WORSHIP him. Christians today believe in Jesus but few and far between are they that actually serve and worship Him. In fact, the Word of God states, “You believe in God, you do well. The dmons also believe, and they trembleâ€. So I always tell the Christian hypocrites that say they believe, “You’re in good company!â€
The disciples in the time after the resurrection called themselves, “Followers of the Wayâ€, and “Bond servants of the Lord Jesus Christ.†That means a self willed slave. Today’s Christian makes God a slave to them because they are taught this from their leaders. God will “Prosper†you. “ALL your sins, past, present and future, are forgivenâ€, in essence giving you free reign to sin all the more. “God loves you and wants to bless you.†“God will never hurt youâ€. There is no fear of the Lord in these teachings. No call to repent or humble yourselves. I’m not talking about a hokey Sunday sermon about fear of the Lord or humility. I mean a LIFE that is daily practicing these doctrines. These common Christian church teachings are much like any other religion or cult. The Christians take a truth from the Bible and manipulate it to meet their selfish motives. That is how cults and religions get started.
All the “Christian Religions serve up a false god to their followers. When you understand how a cult is started, and what makes it thrive, you can see why they have to alter the God of the bible. In other words, if people could learn of God right from His word, with no earthly middleman, then they wouldn’t need religion. The Christians teach their god as a whining beggar in need of their souls. The Catholics use him as a figurehead who joins them in worshipping Mary. The Mormons teach he is a reincarnated alien from another planet, to name just a few. Yet sadly, in spite of all the misconceptions about the One True God, He reveals Himself to any who seek Him clearly in His word. The ancient Torah, and the modern day Bible are full of the knowledge of Jehovah God. Most important for all to beware of is that God will judge us according to His word, not what we were taught by man. So then there is NO excuse for following all these man made religions, especially the ones who claim God told them to veer from His word. “The Spirit teaches you (reveals) all things, so you have no need of any man to teach you anythingâ€, is a promise and decree from the word of God. Yet know this that the Spirit will never give a word of revelation or lead you apart from the Bible, never. If someone claims to be a Prophet, and gives a word from God, and it is contrary to the Bible, flee from it. They are not speaking from God, nor the Holy Spirit. There is never a need to elaborate on a prophetic word to squeeze it in to line up with scripture. So often we hear of a so called prophet with a new word from God. It doesn’t line up with Holy Scripture so the “prophet†has to go into a lengthy explanation to steer the listener into some semblance of “logical†acceptance of the prophecy. God always says what He means to say. Whenever I hear someone say, “what God really means is…†I tend to discover another false doctrine in the teaching. It is rare that God is not clear on any given subject, and if you find one where he isn’t then chances are it is not for us to know. There are some matters that God has chosen to keep hidden from us, yet in this age of information we demand to know all. So, the cult religions step out of the grace of trusting the Lord and each one has it’s own answers to everything in life. This is yet another way they try to keep their membership loyal. Funny how that demand to know all is the same original sin that caused the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Instead of the Serpent in the garden, we have false prophets, and mega cult religions to say to us,â€You shall not surely die…†(Genesis Ch3 vs 4-5), yet they still lead us in the same sin, and so many partake of the forbidden fruit. Hence you allow yourselves to be led astray by knowledge corrupted and abused to turn us away from complete trust in God.
People will attempt to debate the validity of the Bible, in particular the King James Version. I have neither need nor time for such foolishness. In fact, the Lord tells me in His word, “…keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.†1Tim ch6 vs 20-21, and “16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.†2 Tim ch2 vs 16, and “9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.†Titus ch 3 vs 9. And finally, “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.â€Col Ch2 Vs 8.
Clearly, after reading these passages, is is plain to see that God does not want me to nor does He need me to strive to defend His word. Believe it or leave it I say! Heaven or Hell, the choice is all yours! Again, I wish to emphasize that God will hold each of us accountable by His word, the Bible. There will be no excuses on judgment day for those who followed man and their manipulations of the written word.

Alcari, It is not given to me to give or take life, not even my own. The power of life and death are God’s, and in that He is sovreign in my life and indeed upon the earth. perhaps I will relate a story from my life of a situation where this was clearly displayed in a life threatening scenario.

I think that katie is right. I am not a christian but I am a collage student doing an project on the worlds major religons. In the bible god told them to take the word and spread it out to the world. But it also said that if your not welcome shake the dust off your feet and go from that town. but then if their god tells them to preach then their is nouthing that is going to stop them.

The idea that religion is exempt from scrutiny is laughable. Why religion deserves more respect then any other ideology is beyond me.

I would like to add one caveat to alcari’s statement. We may not respect what you believe, but almost all of us respect your right to believe it. We would never force you to stop practicing your religion so long as that practice infringes on no one else’s right.
alcari is right, religion deserve no inherent respect. What I’m afraid of is that such statements will be misinterpreted as atheists claiming people should be prevented from believing. That’s why I always try to couple such statements with a reminder that we respect the right to believe even the most ridiculous things.
Katie, I hear you and like Alcari said, we should not stop thinking in what ever we do, but give thanks to God for everything.

Believing in God doesn’t stop the thinking, it’s the blind acceptance of everything they tell you. It’s obvious from the fact that you don’t even seem to think “Hmm, this evolution thing makes a lot more sense then creationism” or “odd, why does God never answer prayers, even though he supposedly said he would”
