A Saudi high-school chemistry teacher accused of discussing religion with his students has been sentenced to 750 lashes and 40 months in prison for blasphemy, officials said Thursday.
Yikes! Mohammed Salamah al-Harbi (trying saying that fast 10x) was arrested on Thursday and in prison on Saturday. One thing you can’t say about the Saudi court system is that it’s slow. Whether or not it’s very fair though is another question. According to Human Rights Watch, they said al-Harbi was discussing Christianity, Judaism, and the causes of terrorism. I wonder why that’s a sore spot in Saudi Arabia?
