As disgusted as I am with Phelps at crew watching the video I found myself getting more irritated at Hannity and Colmes. As is typical instead of giving the actual issue any analysis they just used it as an opportunity for empty posturing. For that matter just bringing her on is a cheap ratings ploy, an easy way to get the viewers outraged which only serves to give these nuts more of the exposure they work so hard for.

I agree with Daveimaine! I’m not from USA, but I supose Hannity & Colmes are the two “interviewers”? (if that’s how you should call them, because they don’t really ask questions and they don’t leave any space to respond either). I don’t think Phelps is a disgusting person, I believe she has been conditioned all her life by family members to think the same way they do. It’s very easy (and tempting) to judge people individually, without taking their context and background in consideration. I believe there should be some psychological help for these people instead of bringing them on TV, laughing at them or insulting them. It’s what you’ve said before: you’re just encouraging their ideas and reinforcing their standpoints. They are sick and therefore should be cured…

I thought it was a good interview. I am a christian and I would not have been able to handle her saying I wasnt when she said that she would. The best solution to render these morons silent is to IGNORE them. By more and more states each day passing a new law prohibiting such protesters within 500 feet of funerals will certainly help in obtaining that end. As I read the comments to this, an interesting thought occurred to me. Suppose for a moment that at some soldier’s funeral this group of loons were gathered and making a fool of themselves as usual. What if someone flipped out and walked into that crowd with a gun and started mowing them down. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not hoping for this or anything, but could certainly see it happening with all the hate surrounding them. I am just wondering what the public reaction would be to the attacker. Given the nature of the victims, how hard would the prosecution push the case for harsh penalty, etc.
It just strikes me that given the West Virginia Tech incident… If something like that HAS to happen, why couldn’t it happen at the Phelps church?

You know its funny…I am currently in Iraq and when I first saw this I had gotten extremly angery when I saw what they are doing. Going to funerals and glorifying slodiers deaths. But then I started wondering about what God must be thinking. He gives everyone a choice of what they want to believe in. He puts his word out there in front of you and its up to you to choose to follow it. These are the last days people. God is not doing this to the world. We are. We are responsible for how the world turned out not God. God made a perfect world for us to live in and the first humans on earth turned their back on him and went the way of Satan. Thus turning Gods perfect paradise into satans paradise. God has a plan for the world whether you believe it or not. He will have his day. And satan and all of his wicked will parrish and the world will be a paradise again. The only thing I can suggest is do what is right, help people, be curteous, inform these people that what they are doing is not right and walk away. Odds are they wont change right then and there but at least you tried to help them. They are aware of what they are doing and that is all it takes. In the end God will do what is right.

Ok, so I am Canadian. These stupid ass people are trying to get into Canada this weekend to protest at a Canadian funeral that is taking place this weekend. The young boy was murdered and beheaded on a greyhound bus.
The Westboro Bapstist church wants to come and protest, and say the reason he died was because Canada is the worst country, we have no morals, we have same sex marriages and that is wrong… I know there is nothing I can do about this, but I am so upset over this. Race back then was Jews or Gentiles in the bible. Jesus said go unto the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

And God does punish people read the Old Testament. God is the same yesterday as today and forever more. He killed thousands of people at once swallowing them live in the earth. He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah till there was nothing left. How do you think the Hebrews got away from the Egyptians? May I remind you about the seven plagues? Many times we forget God is God. There will be a judgment. Don’t think that God’s just going to let you in cause you’re a nice person.
It says in the bible that you must hear that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross was buried and rose again, believe it, then repent meaning turn away from all your sins, then confess that Jesus Christ(Savior) is the Son of God, and then you must be baptized. Meaning fully submerged into the body of water. In the bible Philip and the Ethiopian Unique both went into the water.
So take it or leave it. You can’t find Sprinkling in the bible.

Christina, your post 68 is mainly a demonstration of what a hateful, racist, unfair, and worthless document the bible is.
Re “Homosexuality is wrong according to the bible…period.”, well, the bible is wrong, period. Homosexuality is now known to be a natural intrinsic behavior of a small but significant fraction of the population of many species, not just humans.
The purportedly omnibenevolent Christian god is clearly anything but that. Why would such a being need a hell, to punish its own errors exhibited as flaws in its creations?
The bible, that collection of fairy tales and unreason, is also plainly wrong on many other fronts, such as the nature of how the earth was populated, the age of the earth, how diseases propagate, the shape of the earth, and much more.
Speaking of the bible, why is there even a need for a second testament? Did the supposedly perfect god get it wrong in the old one? More significantly, why does a purportedly omnipotent god even require a book to get its message across? Why not just build in the belief into the creations? Pretty poor excuse for a god that you have.
“So take it or leave it.” Indeed, I left it long ago, and I hope good, reasonable people everywhere do the same. No reasonable, thinking person should accept the bible as a basis for life guidance.

And may I add and remind you, Christina, that the argument that the bible is true is a circular one which goes: The bible is true because the bible says it’s true. Well, so does the koran. Worthless as argument. While I have frequently stated here that part of the good in western civilization is a result of Christianity, I do not believe that Christinaity is any more true than Santa Claus or that we couldn’t have a decent, moral society without any religion. You are welcome to believe in the leprechaun of your choice, but please don’t try to impose it on anyone else.
So can you tell me why homosexuality is wrong other than that the bible says so? Seriously, I simply do not see what the big deal is. The majority of homosexuals go to work, come home, talk to their partners, watch a little TV, play with their kids if they have them, eat dinner, read a book, go to bed, get up, go to work, do their jobs, come home, talk to their partners, read a book, put the kids to bed if they have them, eat dinner, go to a movie, play a little Scrabble, etc. Why are people so exercised about people living their lives just as most everyone else seems to, with only the small PRIVATE detail of the gender of their partners being different.Please tell me how that is harmful?

Westboro baptist church are just following the bible to the letter, thats all they’re doing, and the rest of the world are condemning them for that??? I personally AM NOT RELIGIOUS I don’t follow any religion at all, I’m my own religion and will raise my family according to my own values not someone else’s… Mine is an objective outsiders point of view. Westboro baptist church are just staying true to the word of God as it’s written in the holy bible, and they’re being persecuted for it.. thats all I can see… The bible says THOU SHALL NOT KILL yet we go kill, the bible also says NO TO FAGS yet we have gay priests… ETC ETC ETC. give Westboro a break, lets look more deeply at our own society and what’s deemed right and wrong, we might see these Westboro “nuts” actually have a point.

It’s not that they have a “point,” but that they have something resembling a justification for their asinine points of view. Muslims believe that if a child is killed they automatically go to heaven so they are “justified” in killing children with their terrorist attacks. Does that really make it “justified” or does it just give an excuse?

An easy argument? Only ignorant people believe that tere are arguments about religion. Religion is a very dangerous absurd anomaly in society, and very dangerous to everybody around who are bormal and living a conscious nomrla life.
The truth about reliogus freaks is always the only one. Always hidden by massmedia. They keep mesmerize their children becosue they believe it is a religious way in order to communicate with god.
The truth is that the religious freaks keep hypnotise their children since birth, and that makes theyr children completely unconscious and unable to use logic.
Among the fact that not only these freaks dont have basic naturally inborn instincts and naturally aquired reflezes, they also keep hypnotysing each other for every bullshit they invent in a completely sick state of mind.
As th ematter of fact, in a nomrla country led by mentally sane people, religious freaks would be legally considered mentally insane and dangerous to the society.

Actually inbreeding has nothing to do with crazyness or whatewer else the media were scaring ignorant people about as usual.
The truth is that people are born naturally in twin couples of opposite sex, and they are supposed by nature to become spouses and rise children inside own family.
If any human female can give birth to twins, and if the twin is th ebest physical donor in case of incident, it is obvious thta anybody who is claiming that marrying a twin is something weird is an obvious religious charlatan.
There are a lot of corrupted sources that usually try to scare pople form marry their own oppposite sex twin, becosue th ereligious conspiracy wants people to be ignorant and alone.
This way anybody who is still normal and was born without a twin, is completely endangered in case of marriage with a comlete stranger.
In case someone still doesnt knwo, if you marry a stranger, it can be a freak who will mesmerize you and you will become another slave of the reliogus freaks.

okay, number one, these people the “God Hates Fags” group, are completely insane. They trump US soldiers funerals saying that they died because of being gay!! Number 2, it is considered an act of terroism to do this to a government soldier and if you are caught causing any harm or protesting at the funeral you WILL be arrested and WILL be prosecuted. And, Bush passed a law saying that if a civilian (aka God Hates Fags group) is disturbing or protesting/causing harm to any person at a soldiers funeral a military member has the RIGHT to open fire on them!

If I am not mistaken in the bible it states that God created everybody equal. If he says that then, why would he hate the gay and lesbian? Can you answer that. I know that the bible also states that you should only sleep with the opposite sex, but also it states that you should not judge your neighbor. There are many verses in the bible that contradict what you are saying and believe in. For example, treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated. Would you want to be told that you were going to hell because of something you believe in? I did not think so. There are many more examples that I could use but I am not going to. I am so aggravated from hearing about this and I know that this letter is scattered. It is a sad thing that I know all of this and me not be christian. I am agnostic and I know the bible better than you do. You may think otherwise but look at the facts that I just stated and rethink your incredibly stupid response to that. I am straight but a few of my closest friends are gay/lesbian/bisexual. I have learned that they are more understanding than most straight people are. They can accept facts a whole lot better and any straight person could ever dream of.

I think only a member of the family would know that as they are the only members of the church. But I would think they have services as they seem to honestly believe in their version of a god, as do all christians.

Jesus teaches us to be compassionate, forgiving. There is a verse in the bible that states Judge not lest ye be judged. It is a failed attempt. It has been disproven many times.
You are not a Christian if you do not follow the commands of the Bible. And, they do not follow the commands of the Bible.
How so? The Bible is against their actions. It is clear. Therefore, they should feel guilt or remorse for their actions. As is said “If ye be without chastisement, wherefore all are partakers, ye are bastards, and not sons.”
Secondly, there is nothing wrong with judging. How so?
If I examine your life by the Bible, then I am not judging you. The Bible is. The Bible, not me, is showing you the faults in your life.
Also, the Bible states, “Judge not lest ye be judged”
I find the interpretation of this verse quite funny. It is actually saying, if you judge, you will be judged.
Well, any good Christian should be open to judgments. How am I supposed to correct my faults, If no one has shown them to me, and I cannot perceive them myself?
