If you have any clue as to what’s going on in the world right now, then you’re aware that a clash of cultures is taking place. I am of course referring to the ever escalating conflict between Muslims and Western society. By Western society I mean the United States and Europe. Over the last several years, the level of violence between Muslims and Americans/Europeans has sky rocketed. There have been riots in France and Australia, massive unrest caused by the Muhammed caricatures, and of course the war in the Gulf.
Now, I lack the knowledge and desire to cover this matter in any great detail. The reasons for this conflict are complicated and well beyond the scope of this article. As with many conflicts though, the root cause is usually differences in faith, culture, etc. This is one is no different. Any fool can tell you that there are many differences between Muslims and Westerners. The way women are treated, how and who we worship, sexual freedoms, gay rights, etc. Many Muslims believe the US is a sexually immoral society where women dress/act like whores, homosexuality is acceptable, and taboo forms of sex are permissible (i.e. the good ole backdoor).
Muslims are proud of their strict beliefs as they feel it gives them the moral high ground. Look at most Muslim countries and you will see the same patterns. Women are to be covered outside from head to toe. Homosexuality is strictly forbidden and even punishable by death in countries like Saudi Arabia. As for taboo forms of sex (i.e. the good ole backdoor) don’t even think about it.
But are Muslims and the rest of us that different behind closed doors? Are they truly against those things or is it just a show to please Muhammed and the clerics? Well it’s difficult to tell since I have little insight into the Muslim culture, but there is a tool we can use to take a peek inside. As with Western societies, Muslims are online in huge numbers and surfing for topics that interest them. And this is where we can get a glimpse into their interests.
Google has a tool called Google Trends and is free for anyone to use. Go ahead and click it as it will open in a new window. Essentially, this tool allows you take a word or phrase and see the search volume for it with respects to countries and/or cities. Go ahead and type in something like "Christmas" then click search. On the results page click on ‘region’ below the graph to display the top 10 countries that searched for "Christmas". Not surprisingly, you’ll see the UK, Ireland, and the US rounding out the top 3.
You’re thinking, wow that’s just great gasmonso, but what’s the point? Well, at the top of the page type in a different word like, "sex" and click search. Look at the results and you’ll notice that 6 out of 10 are Muslim countries with Pakistan leading the way followed by Egypt, Iran, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. It gets better, type in "anal sex" and you’ll see the top 2 spots belong to Saudi Arabia and Turkey! How about searching on "fuck", you’ll see Iran and Pakistan way ahead of everyone on this baby! Go ahead and do another one, "ass fuck" and you’ll notice Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iran in front of everyone except Greece of course ;)
What does this mean exactly… well I’m no scientist, but there definitely appears to be a lot of interest in those subjects amongst Muslims. My guess us that many are extremely curious on the subject matter because they’ve been taught early on that it’s forbidden and evil. That of course makes it all the more appealing.
In the end, I guess Muslims are just a bunch of perverts like the rest of us :) Seriously though, I believe you can’t keep natural feelings/desires down forever. It’s only a matter of time till we see gay pride parades in the Middle East and women dressed like American "whores".

I have had the opportunity to speak face to face with a Muslim at one point in my life. Her representation of the religion made it more palatable than Christianity. One problem I have (and likely many of us have) is that her version of Islam is so different from the sensationalized version we see in the media. Even if the violence we see on TV represents only a small number of Muslims, how can we trust a religion that can be interpreted in such a way?
Just so you don’t think I am being unfair to Islam, I have the same problem with Christianity. There have been smany people who have used Christianity in support of violence as well.
Lastly, I think you may have misunderstood the point of the post. It’s there not to insult Islam, but to point out that being an Islamic country doesn’t guarantee traditional moral behavior. One thing I like to get religious people to understand is that it is possible (even common) to be moral without religion. You know the opposite is true. You know a few violent Muslims give the otherwise peaceful religion a bad reputation (aided by media hype, of course).
And finally, even though we don’t agree with the Islamic belief system, we do NOT hate Muslims. We want to show you the light of secular humanism just as much as you would like us to see the beauty of Islam. You have value simply by being a fellow human.

Islam is innocent of how muslims act and behave, and I told you before how frustrated I was on my last trip to Egypt to see my people doing horrible things against Islam and they are counted as Muslims.
My only issue is how to change the Muslims first, to follow Islam as it should, people claim that they are Muslims and they do the opposite, God says in his holy book ” we created you a differnet nations to know each others” he didn’t say to kill each other, and he prohibited a lot of things like stealing and making fun of the others and all the Muslims know this stuff, and yet they are doing the opposite, but for me I know what the Islam said and what Muhammed told us to do, that’s why I’m Muslim and I keep on being Muslim, nothing better than Islam for me, even the money or any other thing.
Don’t judge the religion from the people who practice it, judge it by your self and read about it, not from the suspecious web sites, especially wikipedia which is edited by ordinary people who sometimes has differnet reason to misuse or fake stories for own interest.
I have come to a conclusion that the same thing which has happened to Jews has happened to Muslims. People generally think a jew is a follower of Judaic faith and a Muslim is a follower of an Islamic faith.
Now, on the case of being a jew, all you need is a mother who is jew and you are a jew, it does not have anything to do with faith.
Now this part might cause an uproar but to many a Muslim is a follower of Islam, period. Therefore all Muslims follow Islam and by the actions of radicals it is not all that nice religion. Islam has gained a bad reputation via rules of associations. You hang out with the bad kids, you will be seen as a bad kid.
Now, people being born to Muslim family are also Muslims and as there is no real way out of the religion due the Quran’s orders in regards people forsaking Islam it seems that the same effect of being a Muslim applies as to Jews.
Also, a child is not able to even understand the concept of faith and when his mind finally is ready for such issues the trappings of faith are already ingrained. Same goes with Jews actually, most of them get the traditions handed down and even if they know them, that has nothing to do with faith. It is universal, we all carry the traditions handed down by our parents,
You have no say to it and the discrimination and judgment is applied automatically. So, I think people see the faith and people as equal where they should see that people and culture they were born is not faith, but this is not a perfect world.

I’ve pretty much said in my last comment that a violent minority combined with selective media coverage give Islam a bad name. One of the problem I have with Islam is that a larger minority use Islam as an excuse to oppress non-Muslim and a larger group (majority?) use their belief as an justification to discriminate against non-Muslims. Just to reiterate, I have the same problem with most other religions as well. I don’t single out Islam for this criticism.

My dad is muslim, and I live in the middle East. Most (99%) of people there are peaceful and just want to live their lives (and yes terrorists strike there too).
