The area is a religious/ethinic minefield, and Singapore essentially banned everything that could possibly disturb the peace, usually with stiff fines and the occasional short jail term. On the one hand, everyone who lives there really seems to like what the government's accomplished since 1965; on the other hand, it's a pretty boring place to live. Yeah, that’s kind of how they roll over there. On the one hand, everyone who lives there really seems to like what the government’s accomplished since 1965; on the other hand, it’s a pretty boring place to live.
