I agree that the weak minded are more likely to fall in such pitfalls, when I say weak I mean both mentally and those who leave in uncertain financial conditions.

But my point is not about what makes those believes, but y do ignorants post statements like Shri Hanuman is a demi god, when its clear in the history of Hinduism that Shri Hanuman is the 11th Rudra incarnation of Lord Shiva.

Wow, you haven’t seen nothing. Here in Brazil, there was once a window that, for some reason, displayed foggy images of something that ressembled Virgin Mary. Hundreds of people remained outside the house watching the window, as some sort of miracle, praying…

I’m nitpicking here, but Hanuman is more a demi-god than a god. He’s like the Superman/Heracles of Hindu myth..super-strength and super-brains.

And about your question, you’re partly right. It is about the weak looking for an anchor, but from what I’ve seen, its not restricted to those who’re poor.

Sidenote: Hinduism is the only “religion” where being an atheist is not really a problem. :-)
