Ever since man has tainted this beautiful planet, prophets and religious freaks alike have predicted the end of the world. Thus far all have failed, so they are taking matters in to their own hands. Christians, Jews, and Muslims are all trying to speed up the the second coming to bring about the end.
Recently several Megachurch pastors met at the Faith Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California to finalize strategies for fulfilling the Great Commission. By using global communications and aircraft they are allowing missionaries to make every person on Earth aware of Jesus’ message. They plan on building 5 million churches worldwide in 10 years. In doing so they believe it will speed up the whole Revelations thing.
Then there’s the Muslims, like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who has spent millions making improvements in Tehran to make it more welcoming for the return of Mahdi, the Muslim messiah. Ahmadinejad expects to see him any day now.
And let’s not forget about the "Chosen Ones", our friendly neighborhood Jews. They are planning to rebuild a temple in hopes to clear a path for their messiah. They are even receiving help from the Christians (mostly southern ones) who believe that according to prophecy, they will stand united together when the end is near. Evangelist John C. Hagee of the 19,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio has helped 12,000 Russian Jews move to Israel.
What’s even more psychotic is that 40% of Americans believe that the events leading to the end are already underway. I wonder if this related to the Unites States’ abysmal scores in math and science :) But seriously, why are religious people so bent on Judgment Day? Are their lives so sad that all they to look forward to is the end? Christian, Muslims, and Jews give me your take on this weird trend. As for my Atheist readers, go repent!

they will bring about the end of the world alright, just that it wont end the way they expect it to, instead of some cosmic superman saving them it will just be death and destruction at the hands of their own ignorance…

Just like to point out that what you call the muslim messiah is actually not the Mahdi which means the guided one who is said to come allong with Jesus Christ. In short Muslims belief Jesus is the messiah who will return on the so called last day.
No doubt the perpetuators of god frauds of whatever ilk will continue to defraud the gullible, molest, and cause death, maybe eventually driving humanity to destruction. Note the sorry end of the Easter Islanders as a result of their idol-building driven by their misguided beliefs and vain leaders. We would do well to heed that lesson. It is a moral imperative to expose god frauds; thanks for your efforts.
A good percentage of Christians don’t believe that Revelation has anything to do with the end of the world. Also the whole theology behind “Left Behind” is fairly young (last 150 years or so).
And yorgan, “god frauds” arent’ the only ones that have defrauded, molested, and destroyed.
You should link the LA Times story you lifted your content from.
Hey Random Jerk, get a clue and look at the end of the article. Geeez, at least look first :)

Re ““god frauds†arent’ the only ones that have defrauded, molested, and destroyed.”:
Repetition of a crime does not make it cease to be a crime.
However, god frauds do require belief or at least acquiescence in order to succeed, and in your case, that requirement has apparently been fulfilled.
Regarding the Jews – as an Israeli Jew, I can tell you that there are *very* few jews that are really trying to rebuild the Temple. These are radical orthodox people, and a handful of people in the general populace (even in the religous communities) bother to listen to them.
Regarding christians that choose to help these nutjobs, well, that’s their problem, not ours. :)

I’d like to see the source of this data since I’m pretty sure it’s absolutely false.

I can’t believe that you know so little about us Jews as to make the claim that we are trying to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. I can only conclude that for a smart person like you, you lies about Judaism must refect a hatred that you feel against Jews — something we would have to call anti Semitism — unless it’s just plain old stupidity. Which is it?
R Lee Smith, are you on the rag or something? He didn’t say every living Jew is trying to rebuild the temple. It is a fact that there are Jewish organizations trying to rebuild the temple. Not as fanatical as the Christians maybe, but they’re there and they’re Jewish:

Take that overused anti-semitism card and stuff it up your ass.
You made several nice points there. I did a search on the issue and found a good number of people will agree with your blog.
