Ok, History Guy pointed out that the Simpsons version was better so I will present that one as well. This is a longer more in depth look at creationism vs evolution. Flanders goes to a museum and is shocked to see an elaborate display depicting evolution. When he asks the museum where the biblical version is, the resulting display is hilarious. Flanders then goes to to push for creationism in the schools and all hell breaks loose.
Fantastic episode and I hope you all enjoy!

The simpsons always has a good answer for everything.
Although they have an obvious christian method to their episodes, they never hesitate away from spoofing real issues, even if it means proving God wrong….in school.

Even though it didn’t explicitly state it, the witness who had a degree in ‘Truthology’ was Kent Hovind. Who should be shot. Repeatidly. But not in a way that would kill him. See, we athesits are a moral bunch ^^
Spot the satire.

How do evolutionists explain how “something” came from “nothing?” Doesn’t “something” have to have a beginning? If “nothing” existed before the so-called “big bang” then from where came the “something” and what caused “the big bang?”

“How do evolutionists explain how “something†came from “nothing?†Doesn’t “something†have to have a beginning? If “nothing†existed before the so-called “big bang†then from where came the “something†and what caused “the big bang?—
ummm… First of all, that’s not evolutions job. That’s not even biology’s job.
Thanks to physicists, we know a big bang happened, but we have yet to do anything but speculate as to how or why. That certainly doesn’t mean a personal christian god did it.
March 17th, 2007 at 9:02 pm
Your father,
how could you know that the big bang happened, if you don’t beleive in god because you didn’t see him, how you beleive in the Called big bang and you didn’t even see it, so still god existence makes way better sense if you fairy tales sir.
March 18th, 2007 at 3:06 am
And yet you still havent proved the existence of a muslim fairy god - I am waiting.
March 18th, 2007 at 9:46 am
Mohamed,
We KNOW the big bang, as in the rapid expansion of the universe from a single point (note: i didn’t mention any hows or whys, just the expansion), happened because we can measure the distance of other galaxies we observe, and the further they are, the further back in time we’re seeing them, and the farther back in time we see them the closer they are to this point.
There’s mounds of other evidence out there for the big bang… some considerably more complicated. Just wikipedia it if you are interested.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjxCp9LJLP0
…but a personal god that just made it look that way to trick us, even though he wants us to believe in him and kiss his ass for some reason makes way more sense.
March 18th, 2007 at 12:44 pm
First of all the big bang has no explanation, it’s just theories, and theories could be right and wrong.
Can you tell me how the sun existed, and how we are in a perfect distance away from the sun, and I’m sure as you know if we got close to the sun just little distance, it will kill every thing, and please explain how the sun get the energy and the gases like hydrogyn, that keeps it going without delption, it’s all from the big bang.
I think we should worship the big bang, it was really perfect(Fairy taaaaaallllllllles)
March 18th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Of course our planet is in a perfect distance from the sun. Otherwise we would not exist here. What is your point?
March 18th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
“First of all the big bang has no explanation”
So? Why does it to be explained to see that it happened? That’s like saying gravity doesn’t exist because we don’t know how it works. We know objects with mass attract each other just like we know the universe expanded from a single point about 13.7 billion years ago.
“Can you tell me how the sun existed, and how we are in a perfect distance away from the sun, and I’m sure as you know if we got close to the sun just little distance, it will kill every thing”
We evolved to live on this planet, not the other way around.
“and please explain how the sun get the energy and the gases like hydrogyn, that keeps it going without delption, it’s all from the big bang.”
ummm… you’re right, stars formed billions of years after the big bang. There wasn’t just one star created by the big bang. There are billions of galaxies each with billions of stars in each of them. Since life can happen in our universe there was bound to be at least one planet with the right conditions.
“I think we should worship the big bang, it was really perfect(Fairy taaaaaallllllllles)”
Why would anyone worship a natural phenomenon?
By the way, even if the big bang “theory” was somehow proven false (or gravity or relativity for that matter), calling it a fairy tale doesn’t exactly fit, because its not a story.

How do you know that anything older than you existed before you were born? You obviously didn’t see it exist. And I shouldn’t even have to say this, but we can’t exactly see a god either. We know that the Big Bang probably (and I do mean probably) happened because we have scientific evidence for it. On the other hand, there is a whole lot of scientific evidence AGAINST a(ny) god(s) (at least in the sense of an all-powerful, omniscient one that cares what you do)

Mohamed: ” it was really perfect(Fairy taaaaaallllllllles)”
What the Quran? The Bible? The Torah?
Total fantasy. At least scientific theory is tries to use evidence and empirical measurment. People writing down stories to explain stuff they don’t understand is just fairy tales. Like Mohamed’s explaination of conception. Apparently he thought women ejaculated during sex and if the woman’s ejaculant was stronger the child would be a girl. If he was so knowing and perfect and full of God’s wisdom. Why did he stuff up so badly on that one?

Evolution is man invention to get around God. Evolutionist once believed that evolution occured from sever microcosms creating a new species. These “chance-by-chance mutations” have been disregarded and now the popular consensus amoung evolutionist is that there is a nature force guiding evolution to happen, thus these nit wits are recreating a God. But more importantly they are creating their own God to which they don’t have to listen. A God that they can worship, hence the ulmity buck and other selfish desires. “It take more faith to believe Evolution than God.”
I beseech you. Do not flatly deny what I have said. Please understand this. then voice your complaints
If you don’t agree and can thoroughly explain why, e-mail me at jordanv3131@yahoo.com

Please explain to us this natural force that all the evolutionists now believe in, because I for one am unaware. Unless you’re talking about something like natural selection, anyways.

“”These “chance-by-chance mutations†have been disregarded and now the popular consensus amoung evolutionist is that there is a nature force guiding evolution to happen”"
Proof? sources? quotes?
Being quite the supporter of evolution, I must have missed the memo on that. I can tell that there is indeed a “force” guiding evolution, it’s called Natural Selection. meaning, those mutations which improve survivability survive.
If you need explanation of evolution, use google.
also, as a general hint on using forums: you respond on the forum, not over e-mail.

““chance-by-chance mutations†have been disregarded”
I’ve never heard real biologists claim this. I have heard of creationists claim this, but the general scientific consensus is in favor of chance-by-chance mutations.
“Please understand this”
First make your arguement understandable.

I love how oppenents of evolution always call it “chance mutations”. The most important (and awesome) part of evolution is natural selection, without that mammals would still be small rodent-like creatures scurrying underground to aviod being eaten.

Though evolutionists do not concern themselves with this at all, creationism and “Intelligent Design” do. Creationism and ID both claim that God created EVERYTHING from NOTHING. You are using the clock-maker argument. Since a clock is so complex, we know it must have had a creator. However, this line of thinking if flawed. For one, the clock maker had materials to make the clock. Also, what made the clock maker, who is obviously more complex than the object it created (it has to be).
Have you ever considered an infinite regression? You should look it up. You should also look up string theory.
Absolutely NO RESPECTABLE SCIENTIST has ever said that the Big Bang started everything (meaning nothing existed before it). Actually, it doesn’t say anything about what was before it. Quite frankly, it’s not likely that we will ever know (or maybe we will, who knows). However, the Big Bang tells us how the universe came to be AS IT IS NOW. Nothing else.
Evolution describes the adaptations and changes that nature goes through to increase survival chances. It illustrates how we have changed & evolved, and how we are still changing and evolving.
And just for the record, no one claims that our great grandparents were monkeys. Over time, humans (well, you have homo sapiens and a whole bunch of stuff that you can just research yourself) branched off from an ancestor that monkeys share. Why? I promise you can find that answer if you look for it in books or online.

Dear Lord,
If you do exist, could you do us all one huge favor? Could you please instruct your followers to attempt to properly understand and educate themselves about a subject such as evolution before they attempt to badly debunk it and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they know nothing of what they speak?
Thank you, amen, hosanna, rama lama dingdong.

Whether or not you wish to worship the Christian deity is your own choice. However, you should think of it like this. There is SO much evidence of the theories of the Big Bang; in fact, I think that even if it’s wrong, the actual beginning must have at least been similar to it. The universe still has REMNANTS and EVIDENCE of the Big Bang. We may never be certain of what actually happened, but most are inclined to believe what has the most evidence. I truly haven’t heard of any truely physical (not written or legendary) pieces of evidence that supported the creation of the universe by your supposed Christian deity. I don’t believe in that deity, but I will neither persecute nor attack you for your belief of said deity. Even a Christian physicist would have to agree with the evidence, but I think such a physicist would know how to mix religion into science somehow (like maybe the Big Bang was caused by him). I think you shouldn’t attack science until you have reinforced your beliefs. Basically EVERYTHING is part supposititious, some more than others. We can never be certain that the sun is truely the source of our heat, but evidence proves otherwise. We can never be sure if gravity exists (so little evidence actually exists other than our ability to grasp its effects). We can never be sure if our nerves actually deliver pain, but direct evidence proves otherwise. We can never be certain that we even exist, sure that the universe isn’t just a dream, but most agree that it does (this is more loose than the aforementioned).

If macro evolution is real why do we never see any transitional creatures? Yes we do even now see micro evolution all the time, I don’t think you’ll find anyone debating that. A lot of the theory of where scientists believe we come from apes is because our dna is 99% or so similar. What most people fail to realize is that our dna is also 50% similar to a bananna. Also take the study of fruit flies, scientists use them because they have such short lifespans that they can see “evolution” right before their eyes. They expose them to large doses of radiation to help speed up the process too. But the fruitflies show what is already known, when they do mutate it is always a degenerative mutation and they NEVER become a different insect/animal, they stay as fruit flies.
Evolution is a THEORY!!!!!!!! A theory is NOT proven or fact!!! I find it funny that so many people take a theory like this and spin it off as fact just because that is what they were taught growing up. What you have is faith in evolution not science my friends. I am a christian and I have faith in science, but not unproven science, all true science leads to God.
I’ll leave you with one more point, evolution requires millions/billions of years to happen. Well my friends, consider some science about the age of the earth:
http://evolution-facts.org/Ev-V1/1evlch06a.htm
No bible stuff here, just science my friends.

I pray to God to rid my country of spooky radical fundamentalist wacko wingnut fruitbats who write things like “All true science leads to God.” Dear Lord, please change the mindset of these people who do not use their God-given gift of reason. Do not permit them to continue their efforts to destroy my nation’s core post-Enlightenment values. Do not let them succeed in their goal of sending my country back into the mystical mindset of the Middle Ages. At the very least, God, please let the coming year bring a decrease in their usage of exclamation points.
