This story was too good to pass up on. Over the last few days in India, Hindu statues have apparently been drinking milk by the liter in temples all over. Millions of devout followers have stormed the temples with milk causing shortages in many places.
Now I find this fascinating on several fronts. First, this is much different than the usual Jesus or Mary sightings that we have here in the US. Occasionally we have the statue of Mary that weeps, but this is different as it appears to happen at many places and was verified by thousands. The first thing that came to mind was where are the pictures or video of this "miracle"? Well I have found one and it’s quite fascinating. Go ahead and give it a whirl!

Secondly, I was blown away by people’s acceptance of this event as a miracle or a sign from God. Scientists were quick to point out that this is nothing more than surface tension and capillary action at work. But followers will here none of that as it diminishes their personal miracle. It seems that people just want to believe so bad that all logic and reason is just carelessly discarded. This incident should be viewed through sharp contrasts in education among India’s billion-plus people. Abhilasha Kumari, a sociologist in New Dehli, said it best…
Many people in India straddle two different worlds one world of scientific education and high-tech jobs versus another steeped in their centuries-old beliefs in supernatural phenomena. And they see no contradiction in this.
I’d love to hear from some readers in India on this. Do you believe this was a miracle or science in action?

I hve a question for every who says to believe in Jew, Islam or Christianity. Who say the religion of Hinduism is fake.
First Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world way before Jesus. Second, Did god just Leave the human race alone for a few thousands of years and then suddenly bring Jesus to the world and tell him to spread the word of god? NO, he was with us in the beginning even if Hinduism is older that the Jew religion doesn’t mean god just ignored Hindus and focused on Jews, Muslims or Christians. I personally believe in all religions, but seriously other people have to take into fact that miracles can happen and every religion leads to one supreme being which is god, just because Hinduism has over 360 or so gods doesn’t mean they are all fake, in fact Hindus say they are all manifestations of one supreme being the creator of this universe GOD. And just because there’s a scientific reason behind everything doesn’t mean its a fake, because the statues had stopped drinking milk after a day i think. when people tried to offer the milk it stayed in the spoon. explain that? what did the surface tension or the pull of gravity stop huh?
Sub, you are wrong. Hinduism evolved from Dravidianism. Dravidianism is a philosophy and Hinduism is a religion. And as for your little question, like any vessel it eventually becomes full and over the next day the milk evaporates to allow more liquid to be taken in. I would venture that the capillaries which absorb the milk do not have infinite storage.
Wow, so an older religion means its true then – so who is the god for me then? Thor? Zeus? Apollo?? All religions (except Bahai) tell you that only theirs is the true one – therefore you cannot be a true believer, lol.
The most logical conculsion to draw is that THEY ARE ALL WRONG! there is no such thing as god, just a bunch of culture-specific superstitions for weak minded sheep.
“Hinduism evolved from Dravidianism. Dravidianism is a philosophy and Hinduism is a religion”
Thanks for filling me in on this Marc.
and i didn’t say the older religion are true I’m just saying that for the people who think that Jew, Islam and Christianity are true religion is, that god has been with us since the beginning not since when Jew or Islam or Christianity was created.
Sub, you do realise that your view on god is viewed at heretical by all of the major religions, including your own? They all say that each other religion is false, NOT that they are all the same god.
So how does that work when the current crop of religions are all preceeded by much older religions that didnt follow the same concept of god? were all those good people before all going to go to hell? why didnt god reveal himself earlier than he did? what about the tribes living in the amazon who still havent heard of the current in-vogue gods? are they going to burn in hell for something that wasnt their doing too?
All religions are nothing but made-up ways of trying to explain our lives. We dont need to make things up anymore, the time is now to move on from superstition and proud ignorance.
the God is that which feeds its devotees not drink from them.
just a question to our hindu brothers.
Sab Kah Malik Ek:
Please see SHIRDI Sai Baba. He is the answer to all ur questions.
I have studied all religions very closely.
Hinduism, or Hindu Philosophy is far far above others. Way better than anything else in any religion. From this ancient religion came so many religions. It is hinduism that gave meditation, yoga and concepts like reaching for God or self-enlightenment from within. Karma theory is another thing.
It is a very wide and deep philosophy, very difficult to understand. People who just believe in hell and heaven can’t understand it.
For a Hindu is is hard to believe how and why a man born 2000 years ago would save us from our sins today. Adn hwy only a son of God, why not daughter.
Islam is very rigid too, very strict and scary.
Very happy with hinduism
I see a program on Zee TV (Indian TV) everyday. It is called “Pyasa hiran jaise…” (means like a thirsty doe…)
There are men and women (church ministers)who create such a magic like show everyday. There are sick people, jobless and others with woeful stories. These church people… how claim to be healers, make the poor people fall on the ground by touching them. Saying that Jesus has touched you so you will heal now. The poor innocent people go rolling down the ground with a thud and even jump up and down like smitten. Very scary stuff!! Still they believe in magic in thi smodern age – like Benny Hinn ministry.
It could either be hypnotism or else these poor people have been bought by paying them money for acting out. But they say Jesus comes there everyday and touches them. Strange!!
A Hindu watching this program can’t believe it. I don’t say there is or there is no Jesus. Who knows. But what is the proof. Just like there is no proof that miracles can happen in hinduism.
Hi all, i am a proud Hindu from South Africa.Hinduism is more a way of life then it is a religion. The idols are there to focus ones attention onto God, and not to be worshipped, just like a muslim prays towards the Kubbha( biggest idol in the world), or like a cross infront of a church. Jesus says “who are we to throw stones, Allah says “we are all made in his image” my mocking us hindus, you are mocking YOUR creator.Ones biggest demon is ones ignorance.Learn to understand rather then to judge.Hindus never mock people as me are not there to judge people, there comes a time were we all have to answer to OUR creator, Love all Serve All, Shanthi shanthi shanthi
Prenvin, how do you say idiot in Hindu? it’s curry you idiot. “Ones biggest demon is ones ignorance. Learn to understand rather then to judge.” you idiot- i’m trying to say this in Hindu
Dear ” it is say”

Hey nice blog! Its good to see that some people still put time into there site.
Hey u guys, there is no ”phenomenon” or ”miracle” in the videos. Couldnt anyone really the milk dripping down? is the whole of india so blind that they cannot see the milk dripping down from the statues??????? WTF????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually worship only Me – Krishna (BG Gita). This message is for everybody.. don’t be narrow minded.. If you are, then nobody can save you.. try to take positive things from all religions and learn to be a better human being rather than behaving like a small child..thank you..
uh, Steven, you and other devotees of sky fairies a.k.a gods are being “non-minded” (you refuse to reason or are unable to) not narrow minded. Regarding behaving like a small child, the mental state of a god-believer is sub-infantile, and I’m being polite.
What people get from believing in a fairy tale is negative, not positive, so don’t encourage the stupid lemmings. Anyway, all the sky fairy believers claim that their own particular god is the big kahuna. Show the evidence (no one ever has, so far) or fuck off and be silent.
Great post?..worth reading it and sharing on facebook?
I saw your web site on bebo. great stuff!
To muslim fanatics who are on the wrong path of G-d
First and foremost, Brahman is G-d in Hinduism not Allah.
Your ancestors were once pure Hindu or follower of Sanatana Dharma but were persecuted by war-mongering fanatic infidels from present day Iran, Persia and Iraq who invaded this pure land and killed millions in the name of your allah for more than 700 years. So your allah is a demon to me.
Regarding statues drinking milk, It can be interpreted in many ways and people are FREE in their mind and conscience.
Regarding the vulnerability of statues, I’d like to apprise you that I’d like to see one day the Kabba been put down once and for all for it is a statue isn’t it?
Regarding The mythological, Ganesha or Hanuman…your ancestors were fond of such moral stories in the past. During these times…there were no paper. no schools, and the notion of the divine was perpetuated through plays and teaching of moral stories all throughout the land of the Bharata as such. These characters became immortal in human psyche uptill now but there is more to sanatana dharma. If you want to know I invite you to reconnect with the knowledge of your Hindu ancestry for they are part of your history. It would do you a lot of good to renew and be at peace with your heritage.
You should know also that there are many avatars that G-d sent on this earth. G-d sent Rama, Krishna to remove evil from earth or a particular context. You should read the Bhagavad Gita and have an introduction of the greatness of G-d. You should know that you follow only a single path to G-d in Islam with is Bakti yoga in a dogmatic manner, but G-d prescribed the path of Self-realization to be higher. Go find out what your ancestors knew about the way to become as near to G-d as possible while being alive. You would be amazed and reconsider the only path you were made to be contented with right now that is the path of devotion which at times become inhumanely violent owing to its dogmatism and impossibility to go into self-realization path. Go learn about the nature of passion which the path of devotion through senses only allow you to fathom. Even five prayers a day would lead to same status quo for it is incomplete and has no other way to go than to turn to violence when it is challenged. Islam is incomplete because it cannot offer self-realization. No wonder Muhammad was such a brute and a barbarian for his understanding of G-d was partially complete.
Regarding your ancestors, they knew that G-d does not speak through one prophet only and one way only. They knew that G-d is Brahman (One) and path leading to G-d many. Your allah is but an imperialistic idea of an arabic conquering nation of the notion of G-d. Just like Rome was made capital of the world by Julius caesar the barbarian, Muhammad establishes Mecca as the center of the world for his new religion but G-d does not belong to Mecca, G-d does not reside in the Kabaa, G-d is not the propriety of the new sect of Muhammad. G-d is everywhere. G-d is within everything as well as above everything.
In the veda and Bhagavad Gita, G-d is depicted as formless, genderless and without name as well as the manifest and unmanifest one, which means that G-d though one manifest itself into different forms and is also unaffected by it. So concentrating on allah is partially right, for G-d is not only one as a person or some old man in the sky. God is one and many altogether and is the manifest and unmanifest one and yet is also above everything.
So you see your concept on G-d is only partial and this is why the man made religion your have adopted by conversion, by birth, by coercion in history is so defective in many ways.
So remember that statues although not a must is a tradition that helps many people to approach the concept of G-d as one and at the same time many, the manifest and unmanifest as stated above. Statues were used also to depict different aspects of G-d for G-d has unlimited aspect and is yet one.
So all this to tell you that the foundation of islam is partial to one aspect of G-d only whereas G-d is limitless and is not a resident of Mecca, a prophet’s hostage, an arabic name, an arabic cultural way of life etc. So you see how your anscestors though uneducated were wise and knew the grandeur of G-d. Unfortunately for you you fell prey to a predatory religion which limits G-d to itself. Otherwise somewhere we share something in common down the ages…our common ancestry and heritage.
What I want to know is, why the hell were people trying to give milk to statues in the first place? How did they even discover that these statues were “drinking” milk?
To Todd (Hope this would help!)
It is customary among ‘Hindus” to offer prasad(meaning : offering or mercy or acceptable clean food, drink etc)to G-d before consumption. The idea is to remind oneself that G-d is the provider of everything. Usually Food is placed on an altar of a revealed form of G-d (avatar)and prayers and meditation are made. Incense and lamps are lighted to uplift the atmosphere in temples or Homes during the offering session so as to foster concentration on a revealed form of G-d so as to avoid being lost in thoughts on the unfathomable, unknown, formless knowledge of G-d.
People of abrahamic faith sometimes misinterprete or are even ignorant of Dharmic faiths and practices and come to the wrong conclusion that “milk is being poured or being given to statues”. But Hindus know that G-d is one, formless, infinite, manifest and unmanifest, revealed through Avatars yet unaffected by action, within and above everything etc.The Vedas tell us this about God – “OM Poornamadah Poornamidam Poornaad Poornamudachyate; Poornasya Poornamaadaaya Poornamevaavashisyate”. Translated in English, this verse means “What is Whole – This is Whole – What has come out of the Whole is also Whole; When the Whole is taken out of the Whole, the Whole still remains Whole”.Which means G-d being infinite manifest itself in infinite ways or through avatars. Statues are revealed symbols of G-d’s Avatars whereby offering is made which enables the mind to consciously focus on a revealed aspect of G-d.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna teaches us that G-d accepts any clean offerings (Prasad) or offering made consciously to G-d i.e Whosoever offers to Me with love a leaf, a flower, a fruit or even water, I appear in person before that devotee of sinless mind and delightfully partake of that article offered by him with love. Arjuna, whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer as oblation to the sacred fire, whatever you bestow as a gift, whatever you do by way of penance, offer it all to Me.” Again, “To those devotees who worship Me, thinking of none else, who devote their mind to Me and are ever perseverent in My service and in My contemplation, I confer that permanent heavenly abode from which there is no return to life.”Any clean food offered to G-d is not affected by Karma and helps us to progress spiritually.
When going to temples it is customary to offer milk or water to G-d before sharing it with families and friends and devotees at the temples for such offerings have been made in conscience of G-d.So any food offered to G-d (in this case milk) is likely not going to give you bad Karma for yourself and for others.
nor is any food offered to a god going to do a f-ing thing for you. Never has, never will. Read post 1. Again. Rinse. Repeat. Your G-d is a f-ing fairy tale.
To Tor
“nor is any food offered to a god going to do a f-ing thing for you”…How do you know that if you haven’t genuinely experience it? For those who are consciously aware they feel it and they know that they are in communion with the divine when they make offerings in conscience of G-d.If you are not consciously aware yet you shouldn’t worry, it’s not your time yet…all in good time… But If you are consciously able to link the most mundane things in life to G-dliness then it’s the beginning of your enlightenment. You would most likely be more aware of your senses and action that you do. But it’s not for everybody. If you regard this as worthless then it is best not to worry or care about it at all. You have the choice. You are not being forced to do anything you are not ready to experience yet. It’s ok.
G-d is not anybody’s property. The reference to “your” “G-d” is irrational to say the least.
If You want to eat just because your stomach aches then go ahead be carefree, G-d allows you to be free but you have no right to come telling me that your lack of understanding is the truth and that I should become like you. It is mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita and Vedas that G-d provides for all beings. It doesn’t matter if you are aware of G-d or not( I won’t use the term believer or non-believer/ atheist as know-it-all from abrahamic faiths like to vociferate). G-d simply provides. The act of offering is deeply symbolic and has meaning for some who are consciously aware. If you can’t just don’t do it and try to find meaning with “Cheetos” or “soda” instead..and yes remember to thank your “stinking” boss for employing you to buy the stuff you eat if you feel G-d is fairy tale.
And yes what I said had nothing to do with the capillary effect that scientist described.I leave that to them and each is free to judge the justness or not of the explanations. I was just trying to explain to someone the CULTURAL context and TRADITION of hinduism and the reasons we do things we do. It’s not like i’m asking you to believe in the splitting of the sea or the sea turning into blood or walking on water or dead man coming back to life as his previous personality or flying on a donkey to the moon or copulating with virgins in heaven.

Good work on writing this. I recently wrote something on the same subject for a new squidoo lens. My cousin, who’s a navid blogger, saw this article and mentioned that I might be interested because of the similarities to mine. Since it is related to my niche I’ll bookmark it for future references. thanks xx
People have such a hard time believing in this and some Hindus are ashamed to be Hindus, how sad when they can disregard things like this and believe in Moses who parted the red sea, And made it fully red and they can believe that Jesus turned water into wine and all those miracles but as soon as its anything to be Hinduism or any religion from the east its purely scientifically caused apparently “they are all stupid and not being rational” If your a Hindu i think its great you can believe that its a miracle its a gift not a curse.
Uhh, Jamesie dear, believing that some divine or miraculous cause is the cause of some phenomenon that has good candidate conventional explanations is simply FUCKING STUPID.
Got it yet? It’s not great at all; it’s just STUPID. REALLY FUCKING STUPID.
And it’s “it’s” little Jamesie, not “its” in this case. Maybe you’ll learn that in the next grade.
haha its quite hilarious to watch all u retards from various religons cast aspersions on Hinduism….and hold u and ur respective religion as uprighteous in the same sentence…hahaa and u f-ckers cant even spell statue.( it realllyyyyyy kills an argument when you people prove how lacking ur education is). no wonder u swallow shit wholesale from ur dogmatic and prophetic leaders.
if christianity judaism and islam were so great- then they wud not hav hav a history of bloodshed for forecefully converting people to hold their beliefs in high esteem. how about you ignorant uneducated ones keep your small minded opinions to yourselves, and leave intelligent discussions for those blessed with a brain and the gift of wisdom.
Take another look Tiffany. This is an Athiest site.
christianity is definately evil tho.
Here it is plainly spoken:
