This morning while researching an article, I came across some very troubling information indeed. I share this knowledge with great trepidation knowing that many child memories will be shattered.
Like many kids growing up in the 80s, I too watched many icons on television and the big screen. The big three were Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and Chuck Norris. These men single-handedly rid the world of bad guys and rescued the good ones. Each could seemingly survive on stink and sweat alone, lay waste to vast armies, and yet still find time for a little romance.
But all good things come to an end and this is no different. Schwarzenegger took to politics… Stallone slowly faded away… and Chuck, well Chuck is busy trying to put Bibles in public schools. WTF!!!
Chuck is on the Board of Directors for the National Council On Bible Curriculum. There goal is to put a state certified Bible class in every public highschool to better educate today’s youth.

Can christian(other religious group) explain the soul without using bible verses, can it be explained without any parallels to some literary works.
In short tell me of the soul without trappings and taint from religions, literary or other sources. Your own words, please.
It can’t be explained because it doesn’t exist, trying to describe a soul is like trying to describe a unicorn. All they have to go on is fantasy books, with no bearing on reality. The only difference is, it is easier to invalidate the existance of a soul than a unicorn.
I agree, it cannot be explained, at least, I cannot do that but soul is the precept of religions. I just woudl like to hear non book based explanation of it.

As for your petty personal attack, actually I sit here a good part of the day working, and occassionally checking up on forums like this. Why do I do it? Well why do you do it? It’s a forum for debate, I happen to enjoy a good debate, although it probably seems like a holy crusade to you. I happen to think that most of the worlds problems stem from religion, and that far too many people blindly believe in things that have awful effects in the real world.

The soul as described as “mind, body, affections, a will and conscience” cannot be a permanent unchanging entity then. Because all those deccriptors can change very easily. Mind changes as you gain knowledge or get a brain injury. Body changes as you grow old and become diseased and eventually die. Affections changes with the times, what you find favorable in your youth for example, cartoons, you find juvenile as you mature. Interests you had in the past fade as you develop new interests. Will changes as your focus on different goals changes. Conscience changes as you grow and become more aware of the nuances of life. What you hold absolutely as truth and unquestioned in your youth becomes more flexible when you realize life is more than just black and white, but varying degrees of grey. Now if all that makes up the “soul” then the soul cannot really be a permanent thing. So “who you are” really is not a permanent unchanging thing with an absolute boundary. So what gets saved? What goes to heaven

Crap, I must have missed that when I was making barely enough money to pay my bills, was eating one meal a day, hadn’t seen a doctor in 3 years, and had developed a pre-diabetic condition, not to mention the almost losing all of my friends and having estranged myself to my family. Man, too bad… now I have a great job, my health is improving, I’ve repaired my friendships and found a great partner and started talking to my family again.

What exactly is wrong with never hurting anyone, getting a degree, and watching “steinfeld”? More meaningless fearmongoring… Why should I bow down to your god? Why do I need mercy? What if I spent my entire life never hurting another living creature, and helping the unfortunate, but didn’t like the idea of giving up a level of reasoning to superstition and ignorance? Would I still be an evil person, in need of “saving” and “mercy”? If your god could send a person like that to eternal torture, then I want no part in your silly beliefs.

2nd reason why men will not come to Christ. To reveiw, the first was that they did not see any need to coming to Christ. Nichodemus came to Jesus at night and commended Him on His miracles and told Him we know you are from God because no one could do the miracles we have seen you do. But Jesus told Nichodemus, the Pharisee or great teacher in Israel that he must be born again. How can a man enter his mothers womb a second time. Obviously, poor Nichodemus didn’t understand the spiritual meaning of Christs words. Later he did become born again and even during the day asked Pilot for the body of the Christ. But it took a new birthh for Nichodemus to see his need to come to Christ. He was self righteous and smug in his religion like some of you are are smug because you too dont think you need a savior. If God takes sin so seriously that He had his Son incarnate go to the cross and suffer the penalty for our sins, maybe we should relize sin is real. Dod is so holy that we cant understand his demand for us to be holy because we were born in sin. @nd reason why men wont come to Christ is because they dont want to turn or give up their little or big sins, inspite of the fact that John the Baptist, Jesus, Peter, Paul and the Old testament Prophits commanded men to turn from their sins. But God must work on us tom give us a hatred of all sin. We all brohe the law of God and must pay for it with death and judgement. It is appointed for man to die and after this comes annihillation or purgatory? No aAfter this comes judgement. The judjement Jesus suffered. But how can you come to Christ when your heart is enmety toward God and not able to please God. Our hearts our wed to our sins from the time we were born till today. But God knows this and while he hates sin he gives the sinner a loving command. In Proverbs, Solomon writes surely your sin will find you out. He also said whoever is a friend of the world is an eneny towards God. This does not mean we are to hate what God has given us richly and freely to enjoy. Food, air, flowers, seasons, skiing, boxing and the like. It also doesnt mean we are to become german nonks or menanites and withdraw from everyone because everyone is evil. Even electricity. I dont want to goof on thses well meanig people but we must be balanced in all we think and say and do. Jesus obviously is talking about a love of money, the pride of life, a lust of thigs we see and touch, and making a god out of things in this world instead of worshipping the true God who gave us all things to use in moderation such as wine, food, things we need for our body, marriage, kids, even nice homes. But too many do not want to take their marriage ring with the world off their finger and seek the will of God. The world is a suttle place and also a beatifull place. The mountains in the west, rainforrests, a full moon a sunset even a beautifull or handsome face all come from God. We were Larry Birs fans and Yankee or Met fans but God was not even thought of. When that God tells us to divorse ourselves from an inordinate love of this world and all its traps and get true peace and happinesss from God and he will give us all that we need. Many people don’t want that type of God. I do what I want and you cant do a thing about it God. That is why it is so hard for people to come to christ. But God says that just like a flower, the world is passing away and one day it will be purged with fire and then we all shall stand before the judgement seat and give an account to God for how we lived in this world. All will be guilty except thost who came to Christ on His terms alone. Again, if you think this is foolishness, remember you are not guaranteed one more breath while you live on this earth. Dont die in your sins but this is the closest thing you might ever hear from a biblical preacher and Gods word in your lifetime. Dont rest your head tonite thinking you will defeat Gos. I would call ignorance darkness. I have no reason to fear any god wrath, because I do not believe in god. I have nothing to fear or flee. In my short time as a christian I found it best to just invite people to church, and answer a question when god puts it on someones heart to ask it of me. Trying to explain things to someone who wants no explanation usually doesn’t work. They think they have it figured out. They’re not bad people (well at least Some are, I couldn’t tell you). They just fall short as we all do and need Christ. Now I’m not saying To not testify to what God has done in your life I’m just saying that they first have to understand God’s love before they can understand his commandments. I had an article posted on here by gasmanso. I would have to say as a wiser christian than i was then there is alot of things I would changed. Instead of telling them why I think I’m right I should’ve told them how much God loves us. (I’m sure they will pick this apart because somtimes words have many meanings. To find the truth behind the words, you must find the spirit of the writers Intent. The best way to do that is to ask Who wrote it, Why they wrote it, When they wrote it, What was happening in that point in history when they wrote it. And in this case they probably have no Idea why I have written what I have writtin. They will say probably ignorance or arrogance when it is niether. They think we write with intent to prove we are right.)
All we can do for now is pray for them and try to be friendly. tell a few jokes and have some meaningles conversation, untill they ask a question they don’t already have the answer to.

Ok, I seriously don’t know the anser to this one. I’ve asked it a lot, both around here and in church. And there’s another one with all the same properties.

1.This question used to run through my mind also, but There is and there Is not (hope that makes since. There is right answers and wrong ones. (hold on I’ll get to the question). Just because i believe with all my heart that 2+2=5 it doesn’t make that true. I have read the bible. I have set that over top of the actions of people and my own thoughts and actions and noticed it to match. (i know this may be hard to understand, I know what i want to say I just don’t know how to say it.)Mostly I know it to be true because of the miracles I’ve seen. I was realy sitting on the fence about telling you my story because I’m sure your picturing a religious creep who makes stuff up to sell hi Idea but I’ll tell you anyway. I was at a party and they started drinking and so I was leaving. as I backed away a tripped on a log and fell face first into a fire. Both my hands went down into the flames and hair on my face had been singed off. The cloths I was wearing that night(witch I still have atest to the fact that I should’ve been alot worse than I am). I jumped out of the fire and my right arm had third degree burns from my fingertip to my elbow. I also had severe burns on my back.My skin was still attached In someplaces but It was black and dead. I was supposed to have skin graphs but when I showed up a week later the doctors could not believe my progress. I have not had the surgery nor do I need it. I have skin on my hand that I shouldn’t have for another year yet. This happend 2 moths ago. I remember that praying during the painfull times would always ease it. i know God exists because of my personal relationship with him. I’ve been throught the fire I know what awaits me if My heart isn’t right in the end. this is not a scare tactic. I only tell you what I know. Believe me don’t belive me. (come over I’ll show you the cloths and my skin, you can talk to the doctors if you want. Let me know I’ll have mamw cook up a batch of cornbread, or if you don’t like cornbread I’m sure we’ll find somthing you like.)
2. Works are important but most important is your heart. you could cheat on your wife ask her to forgive you (even though you want to do it again) all she has is your word. What we think on most is what we are. somtimes the only diffrence from criminals and people who obey the law is the fact that criminals have the guts to do what they want as where other people are afraid of consequences or of what other people think. It’s all about the want to. I don’t go to church unless I want to. I don’t testify unless I want to because without the want to to do the right thing it’s all in vain. Prayer is talking with god. What kind of marriage would two people have if they never talked to each other. As far as worship goes, he tells us to because it is good for us. No matter what people say everyone worships somthing. Back when I worked for budwieser people we passed would basicly worship the truck and us. People worship the oppostie sex. people worship the t.v and shout it’s praises people worship food. I choose to worship a god that loves us all and was willing to come down take on all our infirmaties. Be treated the worst way possible by those he came to help and to die for thier sake. I worship a God who has all our best intrests at heart, A God whoose word is not to be obeyed just because I said so but because It’s good for us and keeps us from our own destructive behavior.. (kind of like if your kid is getting ready to stick his finger in a light socket, your not gona sit thereand say well if he wants to he wants to, he gives us a warning.)People tend to miss the part where he’s a caring father not a mean dictator. God don’t send people to hell People send people to hell. Sin is kind of like haveing metal on you when you’re going through a metal detector, you can’t get past it. He’s not neccesarily telling us we can’t get into heaven as much as informing us if you get what I mean.

While I cannot speak for everyone, of course, I think you’ll find most of us believe ‘miracle’ experiences from believers, unless we have reason to suspect deception. You have not given me a reason to suppose that you might be lying, so I’ll take you for your word. What we disagree with is that these ‘miracle’ stories are supernatural events.
These sorts of conversations always tend to go the same: the believer provides a supernatural explanation for their experience, the non-believers provide possible natural explanations, the believer then attempts to poke holes in the natural explanations (“It can’t be scientific explanation X because Y happened”).
I think this is where the fundamental split between believers and non-believers is located. It is in how we react to inexplicable events (such as ‘miraculous’ events). The non-believer searches for an explanation, but is willing to admit that they don’t have a good explanation if they find none. “I don’t know” is an acceptable answer. When a believer experiences an inexplicable event, they suppose supernatural causes. If the outcome of the event is seen as good, God did it. The the outcome is bad, Satan or demons did it.
As for your particular story, it was, thankfully, a good outcome. I’m glad you are healing very quickly and hope that you have a full recovery. Since the doctors didn’t have a good natural explanation for your ‘miraculous’ recovery, you suppose God did it. What I want to know is what is wrong with “I don’t know”? Why must you have an explanation? Why do you suppose that there is no possible natural explanation?
One of the most common answers I get to these sort of questions is some version of “I feel it”. In other words, the believer feels they are right about their explanation. But our feelings about the world are often wrong. For instance, it really does feel like the earth does not move and that the sun is circling it. And how many times have people said “He/She is the one! We’ll be together forever. I can feel it” only to break up a month later?
The other problem with ‘miracle’ experiences is that any mythology can be used to supernaturally explain it away. How do you know it was the Christian God? It is just as likely that Krishna healed you, or any deity. Also, a Muslim might say that you were healed by an evil jinn who tricked you into believing a false God did it. I can even invent new supernatural explanations if I wanted to: The Great Healing Turkey of the Western Woods pecked your wounds away while you sleep. In other words, there is no way one can determine which supernatural cause was behind your experience, apart from one person’s unreliable feeling.
I have many other comments, but I’ve already written way too much. I guess I’ll have to leave other portions of your comment for others to respond to. Unless, of course, you are interested in my response to a particular issue you raised. Just let me know.
