Looks like those student newspapers are up to no good again showing off their freedom of expression :) Some, Godless, puppy killing, mother hating, baby smacking, drug using, jaywalking, non-taxpaying, un-American students have drawn a few cartoons and stirred up a hornets nest.
On Aug 23-24, the University of Virginia’s Cavalier Daily newspaper published 3 cartoons along with their regular smatering of entertainment. But these made fun of Jesus, Mother Mary, and Joseph. Hmmm, sounds kind of catchy :) So far no embassy burnings or death threats, but I’ll keep you posted.
All 3 cartoons can be found in their new permanent home.

Thank heavens Jesus wasn’t Muslim - there would be riots in the streets!
Love the ‘toon!
Can we sharpen the image up a bit? I’d like to add it to my emailings.

First, I thought Jesus had a van, in which he did not have sex after shows with female fans, because Christ is a gentleman. But maybe he didn’t drive it.
But the article is great, there’s a lot about how the Catholic league wants the newspaper to apologize because they apologized to the gay community a while back for a different cartoon. First, hats off to the newspaper for realizing that there’s a difference between the way a person is born and a belief that a person holds. Second, I call bullshit on the Catholic league and Bill Donahue. They want an apology because they want to scare other newspapers into not printing critical cartoons. They’re mentioning the apology to the gay community because they want to look like martyrs, kind of like daddy Jesus. They want to be able to point to the issue and say, “They treat us worse than gays that liberal media does!” A message that a lot of homophobic America is receptive to, and which will build sympathy. After all, the liberal media and the gays have been making them feel attraction to members of the same sex for quite some time now.
I should remember what I was always told about ending my rants a sentence earlier.

Got a chuckle out of me :p

The last one of the three got a chuckle. The others weren’t so funny. Hardly grounds for complaint, though.
BTW, Bones, I thought that the Catholics were part of the “liberal media”, weren’t they? Dammit, I can never remember who is conspiring against whom these days.

Maybe they are part of the liberal media. But that doesn’t mean that the rest of the liberal media isn’t biased against them.
And don’t tell me you believe in that conspiracy theory stuff. Not when there’s a much simpler explanation–it’s possible for people to coincidentally be stupid in exactly the same way.

It’s really disgust me to see such stupid jokes about prophets of god, it’s really not funny, it really sadens me to see such cartoon, thank god that we are in we Muslims can’t even draw cartoon for jesus in that way.
You think that’s civilization, it’s ignorance and disrespect for Jesus which god choosed him to be his messanger.
I feel the pride in some of your comments, it should be the shame.

Bad taste or not, some people like me think it’s funny. We know that drawing Jesus cartoons won’t result in any deaths. It’s harmless fun. So what if it’s disrespectful. I don’t see any reason any religious figures should be given any kind of special treatment when it comes to freedom of speech.
“You think that’s civilization, it’s ignorance and disrespect for Jesus which god choosed him to be his messanger.”
Not everyone believes god chose Jesus for anything (or in god(s) at all), and I think that’s the point. The religious say horrible, unjustified things about atheists all the time. If both sides can’t speak their mind, then there is no democracy.
