Muslim anger over the Pope’s recent speech has elevated to a new level. An Italian nun was shot and killed by gunmen in Somalia at a Children’s hospital in an apparent revenge attack. Seven churches were torched in the West Bank and Gaza, and the Mujahidin Army has threatened a suicide attack on the Vatican. This is what they had to say…
Our minds will not rest until we shake your thrones and break your crosses in your home.
Once again the Muslim outrage is aimed at the Pope and not the Muslims who express their feelings with violence. Here’s what Muhammad Abdul Bari, the general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain, had to say in response to the Pope’s staged apology…
It’s certainly a welcome step that the Pope recognizes the hurt that his speech caused.
I wonder if Mr. Bari recognizes the hurt that Muslim extremists have caused. The Pope’s words didn’t kill an Italian nun. The Pope’s words didn’t burn down several places of worship. The Pope’s words didn’t threaten suicide bombings.
Many Muslims have criticized the West for it’s freedom of speech, which at times insults Jesus, Mohammed, and just about everyone else. What they don’t understand is that we use this freedom of speech to express ourselves. Yes it may be insulting and at times just downright mean, but nonetheless it is peaceful.

Pope apologizes to Muslims and Islam….
Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday that he was “deeply sorry” about the angry reaction to his recent remarks about Islam, which he said came from a text that didn’t reflect his personal opinion. “These (words) were in fact a quota…

this is good. this is very good. unfortunately, these days PR is very important in foreign affairs. america has been known to fabricate bad PR about its enemies in order to justify action. this time there is no need to fabricate anything: the muslims will take care of that one for us, and noone’s going to mind if we go in there guns blazing.
September 18th, 2006 at 12:50 pm
Nice going Boris… you’re just pining for a good reason to go kick some butt there, aren’t you? A really Christian reaction (assuming here you are one). There is a lesson to be learned here, and over here where I live, there is a really good saying about just letting the dogs bark…
September 18th, 2006 at 12:52 pm
Oh dear! another kick in the face for our tolerant society.
How long will it go on for? Probably until islam covers the entire world, but that’s the value that they are trying to attain. Oh well! back to the middle ages, must be great to be a woman. My bet is though, that when the last drop of oil leaves the ground in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Irak etc. then the whole spook will die a very quick death. Sand will blow over it and this whole thing will just be a fart in the history books.
September 18th, 2006 at 1:12 pm
nope, not a christian. they could be just as dangerous as the muslims given the chance (definitely just as annoying). i am very anti-religion first and foremost. i don’t believe in meddling with anyones affairs provided they don’t meddle in mine first. seeing long columns of imported mujahedin march through the streets of my home town, chanting and harrasing non-muslims, left a very bitter taste in my mouth. i am not a bush supporter by any means (he’s a fanatic too), but i cant wait for the day he takes the gloves off…

when the oil runs out, problem indeed solved. But the the oil is about to run out, the trouble REALLY gets going.
I find this all very ironic, pope QUOTES someone saying “Muslims are evil and inhuman” and the muslim community responds with “What! how dare you call, We’ll torch your churches and kill your nuns until you appologise”
(yes, ik know it’s the whole muslim community, but this is the general feeling)
September 18th, 2006 at 3:41 pm
A small point of note is that the pope quoted a byzantine emperor saying that islam was inhuman, but then in his apology did not explain why he chose to quote that particular citation. Had he not been concurring with the quote, it might have been wise to quote only the part that was making his point. The apology, regrettably, will likely have little effect - apart from mob-mentality that has overtaken some parts of the muslim world - because it was really no apology at all.
It was sort of like saying:
Allow me to quote Phil who said: “Joe’s an idiot.”
and then apologizing for the REACTION to the quote, but not explaining HOW the quote was benignly intended.
Having said that, it’s also deeply ironic that this reaction was so deep-seated, given the incredible slander heaped upon christians and jews by a wide array of muslim leaders. It’s seriously time for religious leaders to step up to the highest principes of their faiths, and not pander to the lowest common denominators of human indignity.
September 18th, 2006 at 3:52 pm
no we’re not peaceful
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Charles_Kopp
just maybe slightly more peaceful
and even then you might say that our entire war over there is simply a state sponsored, christian version of their local islamic violence
September 18th, 2006 at 3:56 pm
and if you try and tell me that on our side we don’t want to “kill all the muslim bastards”, as the extreme muslims are chanting towards christians…
…I invite you to listen to michael savage, conservative talk radio host
…or watch the 700 club
…or listen to George W. “Crusade” Bush make a speech.
September 18th, 2006 at 4:00 pm
any excuse will serve a tyrant, Islam is a tyrannical religion and the Pope’s quote is as good an excuse as any…
September 18th, 2006 at 4:08 pm
Islam a tyrannical religion? Probably so. The world’s god given tyrant, The Pope himself, says so, so it must be true!!
On a sidenote:
The churches they burnt, are ORTHODOX. Which means that these people do NOT believe in the pope, don’t have a pope, and were separated from catholicism also because of his existence. It is just another proof of how blinded people become through fanatism.
The Islam savages should wake up as much as the fat belly-ed Vatican bastards should shut the hell up. Christianity is no better.
September 18th, 2006 at 4:46 pm
It saddens me and troubles me a great deal but did not surprise that such things happened over the quote. I cannot say the intent of the quote (pope being bookwormish, he probably lacks some people skills) but when the response is like that it is hard to feel sympathy to any follower of the Islamic faith.
A nun in a children’s hospital gunned down, CHILDREN’s hospital for crying out loud!
I personally do not care much of religions, each to his or her own I say but I do care what happens to children and killing a woman helping children makes me sick.
Things like make me stop trying to understand and not trying to understand leads to closed mind.
We all know what a closed mind does, don’t we?
September 18th, 2006 at 6:26 pm
indio:
i am an athiest, i do not belive there is any god, all the religions are wrong, but if you condone those muslems that murder and commit ciolence and mayhem in the name of their allah then you suck just as bad as they do…
personally if there is going to be a world wide war of idealogies for global domination i would rather have the christians running the world than a bunch of psycho islamic fascists, that way i can eat BBQ pork and drink beer…
September 18th, 2006 at 8:58 pm
“You call us violent? Now we burn your churches!!”
I wonder if radical Muslims will ever, ever see the profound irony in this kind of behavior (unfortunately, I doubt it).
September 18th, 2006 at 9:10 pm
Oly thing the christians have got for them IMHO, is the high levels of passive faith
i.e.: I belive in god and am christian, but do not go to church and do not read the bible either. This type about dominates in Quebec, Canada. Tho atheism is rampant here, so it kinda might just be the major belief here hehehe…
September 19th, 2006 at 7:19 am
“Atheism is rampant”
lol you’re making it sound like it’s a bad thing.. :(
September 19th, 2006 at 8:11 am
Aren’t they(muslims)proving his point?
They want apology for him saying they’re unhuman and they went and KILLED a nun, pathetic, really pathetic,i think christians need an apology now,not them.
September 19th, 2006 at 11:02 am
Actually i meant rampant as irony :)
I’m atheism and my biggest surprise was to see there are places where it’s not acpted…
Eh, i even found websites with faqs like: ‘How to prepare your parents for your… hatheistuality!’ or ‘I think i’m atheist, is there a cure for that?’…
Naively, i was thinking everywhere was like Quebec…
eh.
September 19th, 2006 at 12:21 pm
@arya
appologies are worthless, and generally help noone. i’d much rather see them STFU for once. if the muslim community would just put as much energy into education and betterment of their environment as they put into protesting, burning flags and just generally bitching and whining they’d be much better off.
September 19th, 2006 at 1:32 pm
To Naery:
I’m atheist too, and i also live in Quebec. I too thought atheism was as accepted as any religion in most developped countries.
But I’ll always remember one time, when posting on a US forum, someone “proved” his point with a quote from the bible.
I wondered what kind of person actually takes that kind of book for the pure truth??
So i told him I was atheist and that any quote from the bible was completely irrelevant to me.
There was while without anyone posting on the previously busy thread. Then someone posted something like “Oh you’re atheist? Poor guy..” I mean, he felt sorry for me!! Now i understand why atheist in the states don’t claim it too openly…
September 19th, 2006 at 1:48 pm
Atheism/Agnosticism in the states is not really acceptable. Whenever I tell someone that I’m Agnostic, they look at me like I just said I’m a sex offender. It’s quite amusing actually because they seriously can’t believe it. Then of course they feel sad for me. I love it… it’s hillarious.
September 19th, 2006 at 2:10 pm
You know the worst part about being atheist?
If you are right, in death, you won’t know it. If you are wrong, you’ll suffer it (depending on what is right).
And dammit, if theists are right they’ll know it and i wrong, they WON’T!!!
I know it’s irrelevant, but i’d wish for a luminous, all-encompasing monent of omniscience at the momen of death, just so they know they spent their lives worthlessly glorifying a lie…
hehehe…
September 19th, 2006 at 3:13 pm
@gasmonso
i totally get the same thing. often people still say “..but you DO believe in SOME kind of higher power, right?” as if the lack of a higher power is something so incomprehendable.
September 19th, 2006 at 3:22 pm
I live in massachusetts and I never get that response. Most people here are liberals. All the political commercials for governers say that they support stem cell research. I’ve met my share of religious people, but very few psychos/fundementalists. I’m sure theres plenty of em here, but I just don’t meet people like the one’s on forums, and the ones I see on the news. It could just be the correlation between the educated and lack of religion.
September 19th, 2006 at 4:31 pm
Okay… if this were some book i was reading i would be like “WTF?! Are the pope and the moslems all just dolls playing into the hand of some sith lord?”
Unfortunatly this is no book and the poor nun is dead. I can’t begin to imagine what the children in the hospital will be thinking about islam…
What do those guys want again? An apology for calling them violent? i say we just give every one of those VIOLENT protesters the bullet and do islam a FAVOR by ridding it of all the scum!
Hasn’t mohammed been putting up with more than words? i remember a story where a guy used to throw thorns in his way, and still when that guy got sick Mohammed went to visit him. For allah’s sake people, your prophet forgave PHYSICAL INJURY, can’t you forgive some misguided pope(who is going to hell anyway) for saying something wrong?!
September 20th, 2006 at 12:54 am
Agony,
I totally agree with you, prophet Muhammed was so mercifull, and that’s the point I’m trying to prove here, he was the best guy came in this world. people here didn’t read any thing about him and they bragging about how they are atheist, you are free to do what ever you want, you can worship dog, or even evolution theory.
September 26th, 2006 at 6:59 pm
I sure do worship evolution, along with special relativity, quantum mechanics, and i might add string theory once i pass my next semester:D but i won’t hessitate to throw them all out of the window if i make up a new theory that fits better.
Mohammed was great, agreed(and i said this a million times) but it’s not your charge to defend him whenever people badmouth him. can’t you just believe that your all merciful god will show them the light or burn them in hell or something?
September 26th, 2006 at 8:27 pm
It’s my charge to defend him and it’s every Muslim charge, I would like to see him in the judgment day, I would be ashamed if I didn’t defend him and by his way, wothout violence.
He is more precious to me than my father and my whole family.
Thank you
