Fearing that a ‘mystical’ tree was cutting in on Mohammed’s popularity, Muslim hardliners promptly mounted an attack led by ringleader Zainal Afrin. They came in the cover of night and viciously hacked away every branch one at a time, leaving the 100-year-old banyan tree for dead. The mystical tree never saw it coming and was reduced to a mere shadow of its former self.
Police have been sent in to protect the remains. At this time, it’s touch and go. But locals are hopeful that the tree will make it. A prayer vigil will be held this evening.

Hmm… My neighbor has a tree that always drops leaves on my lawn. Maybe…
I have found the magic tree of Gorgormel! It is in my neighbor’s front lawn. Destroy the evil magic pagan tree before it leads people down the path of rejecting (fill in the name of your god here)! It will do it, I’ve heard rumors! Quick! Before its magic leaves start to fall on my lawn!

Oh yea, that would make a funny cartoon, it must involve TNT strapped to mohammed somewhere. The crazy stuff done in religion’s name… I am shaking my head but you cant see it.

atleast they didn’t blow the tree up. i see that as a sign of progress.
there might be some hope for our muslim friends afterall…

hmm, instead of blowing it up they chop it apart, besides a suicide attack isn’t really needed when the target doesn’t run away.

I don’t know… on the one hand i like seeing moslems proving the guys who put offerings to the tree to be wrong, on the other hand it reminds me about taliban destroying historical statues!!!
Gosh don’t those guys respect the age of those things?!
October 4th, 2006 at 3:55 pm
Anybody wanna bet that mohammed will be saying “Islam condems these things. Those guys are not really moslems”?
October 4th, 2006 at 5:30 pm
no, instead he’s gonna interpret it as once again the western world ganging up on muslims who have really done nothing wrong here…

The attack on the tree is a symbolic attack on Christianity. In the Bible, Man, through Adam, sinned by eating fruit from the “Tree” of the knowledge of good and evil. Man was saved by the death of Jesus on the wooden cross, a symbolic “tree.” So the attack by the Muslims on the sacred tree was really an attack on Christianity in a symbolic sense if you look deeply enough.
And we know from recent history that Muslims like to attack symbols. For example, on 9/11, the World Trade Centers not only represent the economic power of the West, on a deeper level, they are “phallic” symbols, giant penises. They represent the West’s power in terms of “male sexual prowness.” And because there were two of them side by side, it was also an attack on the West’s acceptance of homosexuality. The attack on the Pentagon, was both an attack on the military power of the West, and another attack of homosexuality, because it represents a giant anus. Attacks on trains are synonymous with attack on the West’s openess to sexual freedom, because we all know that “trains and tunnels” are symbolically used by the West as a description of the sex act

Wow atheist now stand up for Christianity. It’s freaking tree. It’s like the Jews when they worship the cow.
Agony, Muslims can do what ever they want, as long as there is people in the world like you, you are the same like the extrmist, the same concept, arguing not to understand , arguing to prove you are right.
You don’t want Muslim to be better, you don’t want to even help it, you want Muslims to be suscide bombers, so you can complain, that’a all you hope for.

@muhamed
fortunately for us, muslims are making it very easy to be disliked. atheists weren’t defending christianity, they were attacking the muslim lunacy. muhamed, do you realize how hard it is to be nuttier than the fundies we have here in the USA? it’s fucking hard. and yet, the muslims have NO problems whatsoever keeping up. you people are the craziest of the crazy…
October 8th, 2006 at 5:15 pm
Ok so for us Americans are making very easy to dislike. we don’t have to satisfy you or your culture, what has to happen, that there is has to be understanding between the two culture. You think you are right we think that we are right and we can live our life the way we want, so USA should get out of ME and that would make it better for every body, and it’s proven now that no matter how many jets or tanks you have, you will not break the will of people who beleive in god, we don’t take humulation, and when we get humilated we rather to die and do what is going on.
Leave our conutries and our oil alone, stop the greed.
There is always two faces of the truth, one is yours, the second is mine.

Mohamed,
I agree that under no circumstance should anyone impose their religious beliefs upon another group of people, but religious beliefs are not the cause of the american forces in the middle east. I will be the first to admit that their causes are not entirely justified, and greed is part of the equation. I would say the other big part is not religion, but way of life, as in the corrupt governments. The US’s government is far from perfect, and the greedy religious idiots currently have the power, but it is a democracy none the less, and they are constantly kept in check by those of us who aren’t greedy religious psychopaths, and they will not have the power they have now forever.
I would say that the major reason for the conflicts in the middle east is the athoritarian governments keeping the people down. Some of these governments are very religious, but that not as important as their corrupt nature.
No where in any religion does it say that one small group of people should have total control over a nation of people.

I agree with you, but the athiest here in this site, think that reiligon is behind every thing, no mattere what religion meant to be for fighting coruption, and they want to show that the religion is behind all of this conflicts and wars. It’s human-being stupdity guys, not religion.
I bet you for any thing that some of the American gov has athiest inside of it, what did they do? they are corrupt too.
Please athiest don’t cry about religions, you are far from perfect, at least we have values.

“Please athiest don’t cry about religions, you are far from perfect, at least we have values.”
You honestly don’t think atheists have values? Please don’t make me go there. Just admit you didn’t mean that. We’ve been over that point a thousand times.
“I agree with you, but the athiest here in this site, think that reiligon is behind every thing, no mattere what religion meant to be for fighting coruption, and they want to show that the religion is behind all of this conflicts and wars. It’s human-being stupdity guys, not religion.”
Yes I’m sure religion played no part in why muslims kill because infidels occupy the holy land, or why hate crime against homosexuals take place anywhere. Only religion can account for conflicts like these. Stupidity is only part of the problem.
By the way, there are VERY few atheists in American politics, because most americans are religious idiots who think atheists are evil. A politician admitting they are an atheist in America is political suicide in most places.
