Hey everyone I would like announce another new section called The Truth For Youth. In this section I hope to garner support from the entire religious freaks community to deal with critical issues accurately. So many religious sites spew propaganda that really distort the facts and mislead the public. This is my attempt to correct that.
The first issue on deck is one that crops up all the time on this site and many others:
Was the United States of America founded as a Christian nation?
To answer that interesting question, Sidfaiwu has stepped up to the plate and provided an answer. Please have a read and share your comments. The purpose of this section is to find a definitive answer, but this will only work with the help of everyone. Here’s how you can help:
- If you find errors, please report them in the comments section and leave a reputable source backing up your claim.
- If you feel something was looked over, please share that with us.
- If you have any other comments, please share them with the community!
Having said this, the section is under construction and will change frequently until I am satisfied with it. I will be posting more issues that need to be covered and looking for volunteers to tackle them.
Stay tuned, this is only the beginning :)
Regards,
gasmonso

No, it was not. While many of the founders were Christians or at least mouthed it, they did nothing to enpower Chrisitanity in the US. They didnt mention Jesus or Christianity in the Constitution or DOI, nor does it appear that any of them abjected to article XI of the 1798 Treaty of Tripoli.
Although they did not state Christian beliefs or anything, you will find that they based the nation on principles that are in line with Christianity and The Bible. Their goal was not for it to be a “Christian nation” per se. They wanted to stress religious tolerance and did not want to restrict people’s beliefs. But they did found it on principles that line up with Christianity.
What Christian principles? Free Speech, Freedom of Association, and most of the rest appear nowhere in the bible.
See “Christian states of America?” I put it in as a comment to sidfaiwu
Why does it matter how the state was founded – it happened hundreds of years ago. Society has changed and evolved since then, we are more advanced, wiser and many of the interactions that we have with each other have changed the point of being unrecognisable. Asking if a state was “founded” on certain principles is ridiculous – people change, and the only right/wrong at a given time is the right/wrong that is defined by that society at that time (and which is contantly evolving). Otherwise, we might as well just btake a bunch of 2000 year old books literally.
Let’s not get stuck in the past like most religions.

[/stir] :)
Nobody is saying that it is still based on Christianity. The fact of the matter is that the DOI and Consititution were written from Christians with a Christian perpective that it is line with Christianity. The Laws are in line with the Bible as well, which is a main source of the founders.
If you guys are going to comment on the whole Christian nation subject, please do so in the appropriate comment section…
