Homosexual relationships and getting high by the crystal method should not be discouraged when both are pursued responsibly, and it seems like Haggard mostly got this right. The only thing he did wrong was to not tell his wife about his affair. That is what all of us should be harping on, if anything, I suppose.

My point is simple: for us to consistently employ a message that same-sex couples and recreational drug use well within the bounds of moral behavior given proper circumstances, we have to hold everyone to the same standards, even if we cannot stand them. If we are inconsistent, we will only confuse people and fail to win over hearts and minds.

It truly is sad though that Haggard’s religion forces him to hate himself. A rational person would immediately think that perhaps they should change their beliefs. But not uberxtians, they’d rather hate themselves and others like them than deal with the fact that their beliefs are false. Reminds me of Chapelle’s black, blind racist.

My thoughts exactly. Not 2 weeks ago I watched that little “altercation” thinking poor Dawkins actually came off for worse. But I laughed very hard when I saw the news on television about this toss… tickles the sadistic part of me something chronic >:)

He fights against those rights because he is conflicted within himself and the only way to solve that confliction is to paradoxically make it bigger… It’s messed up, but it’s how the mind works.
