I'm sure what to make of this ridiculous video. It has all the makings if a parody, yet all the sources appear rather legit. If so, then these lunatics are a true diamond in the rough.
The song is entitled "The Bible Says" and is written by Donnie Davies and performed by Evening Service. Davis is a self-proclaimed Christian Youth expert at Love God's Way Ministries and has developed a program called C.H.O.P.S., which stands for Changing Homosexuals into Ordinary People.

All three domains have the same IP. They seem to be hosted by a company out of Texas called brainfood.com. The domains haven’t been up very long. eveningservice.com and lovegodsway.org were registered in Oct 2006, and donniedavies.com on Dec 2nd (even though his news page has something dated 11-29). To me it seems like a clever parody.
Things that are fishy:
1. He claims to have lost almost everything in Katrina, and yet he can record a decently-produced music video.
2. There is no address, and the domains are registered using a privacy protection service. What kind of ministry has no mailing address?
3. What denomination is his Ministry?
4. Calling it “our Republican Party” and linking to Wikipedia’s entry on Ted Haggard just seem a little tounge-in-cheek to me.

I think we can safely conclude that this is just a hoax.
All the information in Andrews post is correct and they are all good reasons to raises a red flag(pink flag?), but I think that the phrasing / lyrics is maybe a stronger reason to claim that this is a deliberate stab at the “anti gay communityâ€. No one in their right mind would use the term “god hates a fag†in a song and expect to be taken seriously.
…but then again some religious freaks keeps on surprising me with how out of synch with life they really are…

It’s definitely a satire, and a very well done one at that. I’ve known plenty of gay hating (the sin, not the sinner ;) fundies in my time and none of them would word their position in such a way. To point out the absurdity of the fundies’ position, the singer adopts their message and re-words it in such a manner as to be both humorous and insulting. I’ll be keeping an eye on Love God’s Way Ministries and hoping for more quality satire. This video is priceless! Thanks, gasmonso, for posting this.

Keep in mind that these are the people who go to soldier’s funerals and hold up signs saying “God Hates Fags” and “God Hates America”. These are the people who tell grieving families that their sons, brothers, and fathers are dying overseas because we aren’t stoning homosexuals. Can we really put this past them?
On a lighter note, I noticed that much of the lyrics were asking for God to “lend me strength” to fight these “feelings” and “temptations”. Apparently homosexuality is “nothing but a choice”, but it is a choice that haunts your dreams and whispers sweet nothings in you ear when you aren’t watching out. At least it is for this pink-clad singer.

i vote for real. there’s just way too much infrastructure behind this guy for it to be a hoax…i mean, he’s got a myspace page, a site for himself, a site for the band, and all of it seems mostly convincing. If you were going to hoax this, wouldn’t you make sure you were super-duper clear that you weren’t serious?
The only thing that makes me think it could be fake is that there’s nothing for sale. If you can’t sell stuff, what’s the point of making christian music?

Consider that all the “infrastructure” appeared at approximately the same time and under the same ownership (see Andrew’s comment #10).

Where it all falls down is the lack of contact information. Even Westboro has a real address on their site.
That, and this doesn’t need to be well funded. Sure, making the video needs equipment, but if you already own the equipment (like the guys at http://www.thefist.com — a site run by some guys from brainfood.com) there is no real overhead. The web sites themselves are static throwaway sites with no substantial content. I could throw up three linked websites on the same server with as much content in one day.

This is hilarious. Some fine parody work here. Note the carefully structured fundamentalist, evangelical image; really well done. The only problem is that on the website lovegodsway, you will see all the fundamentalist trappings and one GLARING non-sequitur…the rosary. Dudes, you should know that a crazy zealous fundaMENTAList would rather visit the Grand Inquisitor than promote the use of such a vile thing. A rosary is almost as bad a glory-hole in a bath-house to the sort of people that would have a site like http://www.lovegodsway.org. Also note, that the website is on the same server as http://www.thefist.com. I suppose that just makes it funnier. You had me for the first minute or so though. Well done…we give it 9/10.

Okay, first off, the question isn’t is this a hoax or not. There are horrible people out there who believe this crap! Secondly, he says, “god give me the strength to fight temptation.” Apparently he’s fighting those feelings he has for other men. Often times when a person, especially men hold in their emotions and deny their feelings they tend to become angry and more outspoken about the opposite of what they are denying themselves. My message to him, some men like to receive, other’s like to give and some like both so why don’t you test it out and see what you like best. Personally, I think you could use a little butt lovin’, may loosen you up a bit.

I’m sorry. I normally don’t like to make cheap jokes, but doesn’t “Evening Service” lend itself to just that, if it isn’t one already (He’ll service you this evening, after he fails in fighting his urges)? Another joke I used in an earlier post could also be used: Jesus loves you . . . but not in “that” way. Still, this revolves around a serious issue: we’ve had dealings in my state with this Phelps character . . . so much so that several state legislators (Democrat and Republican) have proposed legislation to keep them away from military funerals. I normally am totally against *any* law which restricts the right of people to assemble and protest (the First Amendment is there for a reason), but I can certainly see the point that the grieving family members don’t need this when they are burying their son or daughter who has given his/her life in service to our country. I hate to fall back on the old “common decency” argument, but that does seem to apply.

The thing with us humans is that we don’t get to pick our lot, so to speak, it’s given to us as a birth right for want of a better expression. So, not only genetics effect us but the way we have been bought up & the belief structures that we have in place effect us too. Also we are effected by the generations that went before us; by their beliefs, their attitudes, their mentalities, their ways of life, their relationships within their family dynamic, how they were treated by others etc etc etc. These things contribute greatly to you & me & how we react / respond to daily life & relationships that happen along the way.
God knows all this stuff & I don’t think is particularly disturbed by it - He has it all under control - He knows the beginning from the end - He knows the mistakes that you & I will make - He knows that you are a “jar of clay” & He loves you anyway with such a deep, wonderful love, so much so that eventually He will show you how much & you will bow your knee & love Him because of who He is.
If you are gay & concerned about what God thinks then please don’t stress about it, just know that God loves you with an unfailing & never ending love & that whatever happened to you to cause your sexual preference happened for a reason & God knows the whys & wherefores better than anyone does.Leave it to Him to sort out no matter how long it takes & no matter what direction He takes you in……please don’t stress!!
It might not even happen in this lifetime - meanwhile enjoy life & love & don’t forget to tell God how good He is for even the most insignificant things that happen around abouts.
