Kudos to you Sister Frances. Putting aside the silly sexual hang-ups of your religion to allow a dying man his one wish is clearly taking your job of tending to the needs of the dying seriously and you deserve nothing but praise.

As to the drug legalization, I agree that addicts need treatment, not prison. With drugs legalized and regulated out the a$$ you pharmacist, not your pusher, determines what is safe and can properly control your dosing to prevent overdose. Then you can be slowly weened off.

I knew a girl in school who did her first line of cocaine from a less than reputable dealer. Apparently this particular batch had been cut with a chemical that dissolved the cartilage in her nose. She started with a super model face. After 3 plastic surgeries to repair the damage she had an average face. To this day she lacks the ability to smell anything or taste anything more complex than sweet, bitter, or salty.

Regulated drugs mixed in a real lab would never have had those results. While I would never condone the use of drugs, people are going to do it so you might as well do so with a control on safety.

But I digress. Kudos to the prostitute permissive nun!

but I can one-up you this time. What we need to do more than anything is legalize prostitution; and drugs.

welcome to the Netherlands. We've got them all, though you need to squeeze onto a square kilometer with 349 other people and learn to wear wooden shoes :P

Hello again Shaze,

It seems I've made your Friday with one post, than ruin it with the next ;).

I suspect that you are right with your additions to my post. Though I'd like to see careful regulations of the prostitution industry to prevent exploitation; something like legalizing prostitution, but keeping 'pimping' illegal.

I definitely agree that non-addictive drugs should be legal. But I don't think legalizing highly addictive drugs would contribute to the quality of life for anyone. They should, however, switch from punishing addicts to the mandatory treating of addicts.

I guess, in general I agree with you. I'm just getting into specifics.

God damn you sidfaiwu,

You always steal my opinion and end up posting it before me; but I can one-up you this time. What we need to do more than anything is legalize prostitution; and drugs.

If not for the general public, then for the sick and suffering that could be enjoying a more regular lifestyle. Drug companies that don't publish proofs and formulas; as well as greedy corporations helping to regulate their industry, are fucked.

Before the internet, the amount of misinformation and pablum fed from the telly could convince anyone that all prostitutes are disease factories. And that all illegal "drugs", were illegal for the same reason.

Less rape, crime and death would be the result of having laws protect our freedom to choose.

What?!? The church made a quality-of-life moral choice? Well, at least it's a little progress. Next, they need to let people use contraceptives, allow abortions, and allow euthanasia, and they'll be caught up with the rest of us who prefer a quality-of-life ethic to their ethic of suffering.
