Leave it to the English to provide yet another fine piece of comedic entertainment. Rowan Atkinson, famous for his roles in Mr. Bean and Blackladder, has some outstanding standup material.
In this clip Atkinson recounts several miracles that only Jesus Christ, the greatest magician that ever existed, could pull off. From turning water in to wine to making cute little white bunnies appear out of thin air, Jesus did at all.
Join us to marvel at The Amazing Tales Of Jesus as only Rowan Atkinson can tell it.

Yeah, there’s something about us Brits. Who else could have brought forth the Life of Brian? I think it’s because everyone is assumed to be an agnostic - I think it’s frowned upon to express any strong feelings, religious or otherwise.
Funnily, I was just reading on Dawkins’ site how another British comedian, Ricky Gervais, is an atheist.

This has been one of my favorites for a long time. Thumbs up. :)

bob,
Gervais is pretty open about his atheism. If you get to see his stand-up routine, he ridicules religious ideas quite a lot.

Man, first time I have ever seen this. I think I broke something laughing.

Catch… breath… too much… laughing.
On the other hand how do you know the between a wizard and a messenger of god? Unless you know it’s all tricks you could say “you must be the son/messenger/hand/assistant of god!”

A quote from Blackadder
“You see, the thing about heaven is that heaven is for people who like the sort of things that go on in heaven. Like, well, singing, talking to God, watering pot plants.”
LOL

I love Atkinsons comedy and think it on the whole better than a lot of his predecesors. But this is really cheap and easy. He must be scraping the barrel if this is all he can produce. This is why he sided with the Christians of Britain to oppose the hate speech legislation of the Labour govt. The gutlessness of this sort of humour is seen in the complete absence of comedy against Mohammed and his followers. Its so easy to mock Christianity because Christains are obliged to love their enemies (even if they don’t); most Islamists believe they are obliged to fight their enemies. That’s also why they are behind hate speech legislation (along with the gays) as it is an effective weapon in their arsenal.

“The gutlessness of this sort of humour is seen in the complete absence of comedy against Mohammed and his followers.”
Not quite. Christian jokes have more currency in societies where that is the majority religion. If he were to make similarly nuanced jokes about Mohamed, hardly anyone one in the audience would get it because of their ignorance of the Islam.

There is enough Islam in GB to joke about if one is game. He wouldn’t dare.

I think God would be laughing too!

Can you trust a god who has no sense of humor?
May 13th, 2007 at 10:26 am
Hooray!
I’m so glad that there are other atheists in the world.
Also, British humour (not humor) is the best!

If God didn’t have a sense of humor, why would he make animals like toucans and giraffes? Really now. A bird with a beak that is larger than itself and a mammal with a great long neck. And Don’t even get me started on camels and their spitting habits.

Just because I like to bash god/gods/goddesses those animals are the result of billions of years of evolution
the process is not perfect and never seemed to attempt perfection
