That comment is a huge generalisation, narrow minded and unneeded. Rather than argue about why the christians appear in hell, why not marvel at the perfection of his timing and his extraordinary ability to say anything without infering insult.

There is no doubt there will be a slew of Christians in Hell. Not because the Jews were right, but because being a Christian has nothing to do with truth and salvation. Modern day Christianity is a cult religion with liars leading blind mice.

Besides, in adition to what Sid pointed out, one cannot force true belief.

Sure, I can feign piety, go to church every sunday and pray three times a day, but it would all be fake. So even if you are, by massive ammounts of luck, correct, it still wouldn’t make any difference.

You cannot flip a switch and say “By jove, those people are right, if I don’t belief in god, i’ll end up in hell. Better start praying”

Ah, tired-old Pascal’s Wager. Wouldn’t it be just as safe to believe that the burial rights of ancient Egyptian Pharaohs are necessary for a happy afterlife? And aren’t you taking the exact same risk with respect to Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Nordic mythology, and every other of the hundreds of belief systems with an afterlife?

Although your particular way of practicing Christianity may leave the world a better place, I doubt that this is true in general. For instance, there are large parts of Africa that are AIDS stricken and overpopulated despite the availability of condoms all because of how Catholic missionaries practice their version of Christianity. These people are not leaving the world a better place. Indeed, they are leaving it in much worse shape. This is but one example of how living by a set of rules provided by Christianity hurts people.

Wouldn’t it be better to beleive in heaven and hell and that God exists while living, than to be wrong and find out the truth when it’s too late to change your mind? Personally, I would rather be safe as a Christian and believe what the Bible says is true about what happens when you die. As a Christian, if there is no afterlife and what I believe isn’t true, then I have nothing to lose. Then, all I’ve done my entire life is live by a set of rules that leave the world a better place.
