Thanks for the tip.
I personally believe, or at least hope, God's way, way above and beyond sex. I suppose I should give more credence to the Trinity and say They.
I don't really believe God to be personally responsible for the stories. The secret is, I try to be gentle in bringing fundamental types to the understanding that no scripture was written by anyone infallible. Don't tell anyone.
Merry C--er, sorry. Happy holidays to your and yours!

Hello acptulsa,

Are you so certain that God is a 'He' or to use use the masculine pronoun out of cultural tradition? Or do you masculinize God for some other reason? Also, how do you know that God provides any stories for our infant species?

Unfortunately, I don't think Mohamed frequents this blog anymore. I can't say that I can entirely blame him. You can click on his name to follow him to his blog if you want to engage in discourse with him.

Well, mohammed, I suspect that, being human, at some time you'll come back to see what got said behind your back. I don't think these guys know how to make a respectful argument. Try this.
My friend, would you ever consider telling a four year old child the whole, unvarnished truth about where it is that babies come from and how they get conceived? Would there be any point, or would the child fail to understand?
When the Quran, and the Old Testament, and a host of other scriptures were written, we as a race, and metaphorically speaking, hadn't even learned to walk yet, much less to run. We were still crawling. When such primitives wonder where origin is, do you try to explain abiogenesis and evolution, or do you give the child a good story? Who are you or I to tell God He's not allowed to use tools like these? Who are you or I to condemn Him for not having tried to explain these things to creatures not yet adult enough to understand them?
These guys have no more disproven God than you have confirmed Him. They will no more be converted to Him than you will be converted away from Him. But you are a reasonable human being surrounded by evidence neither your book nor ours can or will completely explain. Why is it not possible that God would allow us to believe in the seven day creation, or Santa Claus for that matter, until we outgrow the need for that belief?
We do evolve, my friend, just as God designed us to do. If our belief systems can't keep up, well, either those in touch with Him had better reinvent them or we will just make more athiests like the ones above. Because if we can't believe a parable or fable is literal truth, and we can't get past the need for that parable to be literal truth, we can't learn from it and become wiser, and they are right to reject us as they press on to the greater things God has obviously designed and intended us for.
Remember this: "When I was a child I thought as a child... When I became a man I set aside my childish ways."
I am not calling you childish, my friend, for you have shown patience and civility. I am saying that as we grow, we must see God in what is, not just in what has been in the past.
Could not God use the tools of abiogenesis and evolution? In fact, could He not invent them? If you say no, I will accuse you of being of little faith.

Though I live in Ireland, I'm not stranger to the whole American Conservatives agenda having seen it raise its ugly head through two recent trips to the United States from Border Control/Customs to the average raving ring wing lunatic in the street.

I have to say that this is actually frightening to watch, though it is probably harmless like the odd Neo-Nazi meetings that get held occasionally, paying lip service to dead ideas.

As a European, there is a huge contrast between our societies. In Europe we tend to be moving away from religion towards secular materialism however in America things seem to be going the opposite direction.

Its really just people desperately searching life for something to cling onto, but there is no right or wrong thing to grasp. I am a Socialist and Liberal thinker because it suits me, I imagine these people get the same buzz out of Christianity.

I'll raise you one, there are only 8 planets (try to keep up with the stellar redecorating :P ) so it's 12.5%

@Mohammed, post 66:

"The other thing, how many planet we discovered now, why there are not life on it?"

Exactly 9 planets + their moons.
WOW! that's a vast number of planets, someone ask god why he chose to only populate about 11% of the universe as we know it!

It seems Osama Bin Laden has called for west to embrace Islam and to renounce democracy. Can't Islam and democracy co-exist? I don't know where gosmonso is? I think we need a new thread to discuss this bullshit being shipped from a crackpot.
