Red Bull is getting in the Christmas spirit this season with their latest advertisement. While I find it quite entertaining, many Christians don’t. One Italian priest, Father Marco Damanti, went so far as to call it blasphemous and disrespectful to Christianity. He was so furious that he actually got the company to remove the ad entirely from Italian television!
By now you’re wondering what all the fuss is about. The commercial recreates the nativity scene and throws in a little twist by adding a fourth wise man carrying Red Bull. At the end of the commercial, angels fly above and say the company’s slogan, “Red Bull gives you wings.” Good stuff if I do say so myself.
Hats off to sidfaiwu for the story!

Blasphemous and disrespectful…isn’t that similar to the grounds used against the Mohammed caricatures by some Muslims when they burned buildings? Well, nothing was burned yet in this case, so I suppose that’s something.
Where’s the disrespect? I couldn’t find it. I think Mister (I already have a father and he’s 10 times the man any priest is) Marco Damanti needs a sensitivity adjustment.

Sssssssssss! Burn!
Sorry, couldn’t help it :)
lol, of course all it takes to be better than your typical priest is valuing reason and evidence over faith. Not hard, really. The fact that so many fail to do so is really astounding.
good call sidfaiwu!
That was actually a very “clean” version of a red bull commercial. They usually tastelessly depict dogs with tits and naked cartoon people. Can you imagine what they would’ve thought of a topless cartoon woman in Italy?
Christians upset about their faith being used for the basis for a slightly humorous advertisement? I am befuddled, surely. Pfff.
Wait a minute, a CATHOLIC priest upset about this video? Aren’t these the same guys who have a quota of young boys they have to molest per year? I find that hilarious.
They put a fourth guy in, well at least they kept the 3 wise men… which is good.
Thanks Sid for this interesting story…
***Christmas is around the corner and can i tell you guys about the bright star and where it leads too?
A pack of suger-free red bull for you Sid:)
Angels shine from without because their spirits are lit from within by the light of God.
Thanks you so much for your insight. Your post is greatly appreciated. Continue to do a good job.
You made certain fine points there. I did a search on the topic and found a good number of people will have the same opinion with your blog.
