...regardless of whether or not it's blasphemous, it's just plain disrespectful. Even if you remove religion from the picture, the "pageant" is just plain rude >_<

I wouldn't support a "beautiful Buddha" competition, either xP

If the article on atheism I read there had been turned into me when I was teaching, it would've gotten a *very* poor grade; then again, so would the Meese Commission Report on Pornography, and a great many other bits of "research" put out by subjectivist organizations.

sid, I'm going to have to disagree with you. Fox News has far more credibility than Conservapedia. Fox News I regard as merely entertainment television, and they find that near-comical right-wing populism gives them better ratings. Conservapedia, on the other hand...I don't think I can mentally contemplate the idea that anyone could take it to be anything other than parody.

You mean conservative Christian Americans don't have nice things to say about groups they hate and fear? I'm shocked. Conservapedia is the Fox News of internet encyclopedias; lite on fact, heavy on opinion. Though, like Fox News, it does a decent job of putting up a facade of legitimacy, just enough to convince those who want to be convinced.

I read through some of the article on atheism and it is the worst case of one-sided reporting. It selectively sites articles to associate atheism with as many bad things as possible while ignoring the empirically negative correlation between the health of a society and it's level of religion. A perfect example of this is the statement "Moral depravity has been demonstrated in the atheist community through history and through various studies.[61][62][63][64]". Three references were religious publications and the other had nothing to do with moral depravity. Conservapedia engages in selective and misleading citation. After the modern citations, it then cites numerous insulting Bible verses which, when viewed objectively, are opinions and not facts.

Conservapedia is a great place for those who place low value on objective truth and high value on insulating themselves in their own opinion. Conservapedia removes all entries and edits that are viewed as 'liberal'. Why is it so afraid of dissenting opinion?

David, there's no need to refute ANYTHING claimed on conservapedia. Why? because it's conservapedia. Nice try though, not really.

Have you seen the atheism and homosexuality articles at Conservapedia?

I don't think that people with "San Francisco Values" are fond of the articles and they certainly cannot refute them.

Here are the articles:

Hyrocket--
It was all in fun, to raise money for commuinty-based programs. Kind of like a church bake sale, but with better fashion sense. I don't get where you are coming from on the "compassion" thing. . . I thought community service (which is driven by empathy, the basis of all morality) involved a large dose of compassion. And I don't see it as an "attack" on Christians at all, or a gay-bashes-the-straights thing either . . . after all, "Redneck Jesus" was a straight guy. If they wanted to attack Christianity on Easter, they could've gone back to the various pagan Spring rites which the Catholic Church co-opted for their own needs.

Who set up the standards according which you are to show homage to Jesus and what not to do?

And what does compassion have to do with the hunky Jesus competition?

Or is someone objecting the charity of gays? Is their charity somehow less than other charities?

Are community service, human rights and spiritual enlightenment issues that Jesus opposed?

"where is their(gays) compassion towards us Christians."

They probably have had trouble finding compassion ever since christians started telling them they are going to hell and making rash, cruel, and false generalizations about them.

"But, if we look to the truth in G-d, who is Christ Jesus,He will set you free from your sins and see the truth that you see in all people, that we are sinners and there is not one who is righteous."

Mmmmm....I love me some random, general, and downright cryptic religious ranting.
