On Monday, Colorado Springs Republican Douglas Bruce was to be sworn in as a state representative in Colorado. So with bible in hand, Bruce went to the House floor for Morning Prayer.
The room was filled with various reporters and photographers to capture what would normally be a mundane event. But this particular ceremony would be a little more entertaining.
Photographer Javier Manzano crouched before Bruce as he stood for the chamber’s morning prayer. With camera in hand, Manzano snapped a harmless action shot of Bruce in mid-prayer.
Douglas Bruce “Lee” responded with a swift kick to Manzano’s knee followed by the words, “Don’t do that again.” Complete story here.
Now some might argue that taking pictures during prayer is rude, and to that I might agree. However, a state representative should know better. Especially one that is Christian, and holding a bible, and in the middle of a prayer!
What’s even more amusing is that he refused to apologize and had the balls to ask the reporter for one instead. Douglas Bruce “Lee” said is best:
“I’m glad that he maybe, finally, I hoped learned a lesson, that he should not disrupt a public prayer of the House.”
What would Jesus do?

Wow, That’s some self-control of that photographer, I’d have punched him in the face.
I asume the biblical jesus would have turned the other cheek, that is, after all, his good side.
January 16th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
I woulda decked him with my camera, and over his passed out body i would yell “WHERE’S YOUR GOD NOW BITCH”.
January 16th, 2008 at 1:36 pm
The photographer should file assault and battery charges. The attack on him was unprovoked…and witnessed. Getting kicked in the knee could have resulted in a serious injury.
The State House should also censure Bruce for conduct unbecoming of a public servant. If he doesn’t want to be in the public eye 24/7, he should have chosen a different career path.

> I asume the biblical jesus would have
> turned the other cheek
Hard to say - remember that the biblical Jesus went a little ape shit at the temple. When he got pissed, he got pissed. Of course, I’m not so sure that he ever assaulted anyone, but when he got riled over stuff he cared about, he got riled.
At least, that’s what it says in the Bible.

Mr. Skeptic, Jesus was without sin and that is where we fall short. Gasmonso has pointed a out something that we are sinners and we all fall short of the Glory of God.
We need to look the man and not Jesus. we do the things we do because we are sinners(=). I can always depend on Irish to show that there is no difference in man, look at his post on #2 and the article below,
Douglas Bruce “Lee†responded with a swift kick to Manzano’s knee followed by the words, “Don’t do that again.â€
But, there is one difference one knows Jesus and the grace He offers to him, there is forgiveness. let us not look to a man but rather the one that comes to save lost.
I was once dead and going with the current into the abyss but for some reason i am here to tell you guys that there is life in Jesus. i am not here to convert anyone for the power to change a life is not in me.

hyrocket:
“for some reason i am here to tell you guys that there is life in Jesus”
Well you’re wrong, so stop.
January 16th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
hyrocket, my post was a joke.
“I am not here to convert anyone for the power to change a life is not in me.”
Then for fuck’s sake stop posting shit like this.
January 17th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
“i am not here to convert anyone”
You’re correct there, so do us all a favor and stop trying.
January 17th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
I think hyrocket is either trying to:
1) buy his way into heaven by trying to convert the godless.
2) show off to his christian friends (”look at me everybody. I am serving the Lord and converting the godless”).

guys, if 3 or more of you agree and say so now, if Huckabee loses in South Carolina, i will stop posting here and move on, away from here never to post again.
McCain leads Huckabee by two points, 27%-25%, which is within the survey’s 5% margin of error. this is from

Who the fuck care who wins the republican primary? It’s not gonna be the person who’d actually make a good president, Ron Paul. By the way, the turnout numbers for the republicans is embarrassing compared to the democrats.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:22 pm
@hyrocket:
You’re more than welcome to stay and post unless of course you’re a Hukabee supporter ;) That guy is a certifiable lunatic. Whether he talks to God on his cell or preaches his ridiculous views on immigration… I hope that guy goes down in flames.
@irishthunder:
The reason the turnout is so low for the republicans is because they have a horrible batch of candidates to chose from with the exception of Ron Paul. He has impressed me the most. His views are so riddled with common sense that many people think he’s nuts… which of course is why he doesn’t have a chance at winning :(
On another note though… I look at the democratic candidates and don’t see anything too special there either. It’s hard to believe the US can’t come up with some decent people for the most powerful position in the world. Then I remember that this is politics… the best man for the job hasn’t a chance.
January 17th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Howdy all,
As I live in Australia I really haven’t been following the candidates that closely. All I know is what I’ve read on Sids site. Seems to me it’s pretty much the same as it is here. A choice between the lesser of evils rather than who you think would do a good job.
Cheers

My favorite ticket would be Ron Paul and Mike Gravel as vp. why Gravel? cuz he actually is as nuts as everyone thinks he is, and thats awesome.
As far as democrats go there are too many people in this country that will vote for anyone who isn’t black or female. Edwards comes off as a slimeball, and I just can never forgot that he’s the reason NC has two republicans in the senate.
A good friend once told me, during a night of heavy rugby celebration:
“The person who would be the best president will never be president, because they are smart enough to not wanna be president”
January 17th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
I hate my country’s politicians so much. The Republican party is little more than a list of people who need to be introduced to the business end of a flamethrower.

“Morning prayer at the State Capitol” and the photographer “disrupted prayer in the “House”?”
Am I the only one who sees a conflict between church and state in these comments and the actions of our lawmakers? I can’t wait until the Muslims start infiltrating our government and demanding shrines to Mecca! What about the Mormons and Romney running the country!? I can only cringe with distaste at the thought! Separate church and state people and stop voting lunatics into office! um…Amen..
January 19th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Hah, the seperation of church and state in the USA is purely theoretical. With every single politician either a cristian, or afraid to say they’re not, there really isn’t any seperation.

Hi Guys, long time no see, glad to see things back to normal :)
P.S. hyrocket: but for some reason i am here to tell you guys that there is life in Jesus.
The reason is that you are a stonger and better person than you give yourself credit for. Some others may not think so much of you, and might have told you it wasn’t and couldn’t possibly be your doing, and that it was due to some magical outside force, but to listen to that is selling yourself short - in the end it was you finally asserting your good choice, your good actions - without that nothing would have changed, and nothing else was needed.
And your probably HERE on religiousfreaks.com because something inside you is just starting to wake up to that fact, and realize deep down that what they have been telling you just doesn’t sit quite right, no matter how hard you try to keep believing it.
Keep up the good work, you’ll get there :)
January 23rd, 2008 at 1:06 am
be careful, if you make hyrocket question his religion it may cause a rip in the time-space continuum.
January 23rd, 2008 at 1:44 am
RC, honestly if you knew my old ways, you would not like me, maybe except Alcari.
Can i share this verse with you RC
if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding
RC, my catholic brother, you really need to leave behind the catholic religion and focus on what your parents were sreaching for in Jesus. RC, you have to show them that it is not in a priest that God comes to them, but your family going to the cross and seeing our sins taken by Jesus, becasue we were blinded by as you put it “some magical outside force”(Satan) but, Jesus took on our sins and you say to me that it is my good choice, my good actions.
RC, i tell you that, when i accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour in my heart, my life changed becasue i bowed at the cross.
RC, we must redeem the time, because the days are evil. We must stand in boldness for Jesus Christ, as Paul did in prison.
And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of rivalry, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.
Yes, and I will rejoice!
RC i appreciate you post and i hope you will accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and not as a religion, but as a relationship between a Father and a His child.

Hey, why the sudden insults?
All I do is offer the occasional advice, like right now. I’d advice you to look up the exact meaning of the word ‘recovered’ since it’s obvious from your post that you don’t know it’s meaning.
I still marvel at out species retardedly double standard in mental healthcare though. If anyone were to say things like that, but replace ‘Jesus’ with ‘Midgets’, he’d be dragged to a padded room.
Heh, probably a good thing, if everyone with your mental disorder recieved therapy, there wouldn’t be enough psychiatrists in the world.
January 24th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Hey Alcari, i did not mean to insult your good name. You’re right, i don’t know what recovered means, especially when they put that word in front of a religious faith. I just hope RC stays in scripture and put Jesus in front of every word that he speaks, when needed, that’s all.
Alcair you are correct on this… “if everyone with your mental disorder received therapy, there wouldn’t be enough psychiatrists in the world”.
Some people need evolution and some psychiatrists, but as for me, the only cure, the only hope, that i have is in Jesus Christ.
If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you,Jhn15.
Roger and RC, i hope you two stay in scripture and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour in your heart you will be saved(born anew).
Please read Romans 10:4-13
And prepare for blast off!
January 24th, 2008 at 4:58 am
@Alcari
I still marvel at out species retardedly double standard in mental healthcare though. If anyone were to say things like that, but replace ‘Jesus’ with ‘Midgets’, he’d be dragged to a padded room.
I lol’d :)
You know, thinking about it from an evolutionary point of view, the trait of gullibility seems to be very strongly conserved throughout history despite some pretty obvious and horrendous survival disadvantages. Whatever the survival and/or reproductive advantage is of blindly believing everything you are told, it must be pretty big!
(insert joke about gullible co-eds here)
((actually, if you contrast all the un-wed teenage mothers in the bible belt with all the childless professional couples in the north-east, that’s not a joke - it’s a viable explanation!!!))
January 24th, 2008 at 5:27 am
P.S. @Irishthuner, I still do reckon there’s hope for this one. He(she?) can’t seem to let go of it, which most likely means he can feel it. He doesn’t want to feel it - hence the desperate tone - but he feels it anyway.
It’s going to take a few years and he still has to go through the crushing disappointment of realizing the limitations of the half-cure he has temporarily settled for, but that fervor is a big give-away, he is not feeling very secure with the current situation.
Hyrocket:
RC, honestly if you knew my old ways, you would not like me
RC, honestly if you knew my old ways, you would not like me
RC, honestly if you knew my old ways, you would not like me
Hey, that is saying something bad about me - that I would be bad towards you by not liking you. But I kind of suspect you don’t realize that? You think I would be justified in not liking you I suspect? That if I didn’t like you on account of your old ways, that would make YOU the bad one in your eyes and I would be better for not liking you? Not your ways mind you, but you?
Look, bad stuff happened, but you STOPPED it. You were are and will be quite likeable, with or without the phoney-baloney god crap they have been shoving at you. It’s not the believing that made the difference, it’s you.
January 24th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
So, anyone know if this maniac has been brought up on assault charges or forced to make a public apology and thrown out of office yet? Its the least that should happen, we don’t need the people making leadership decisions to be this unstable and making such obviously bad judgment calls.
January 24th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
LOL Alcari, your post #22 i really did not mean to insult you or RC.
RC, I really appreciate your post #25 to Alcari’s #22.
RC, When say this “with or without the phoney-baloney god crap they have been shoving at you”.
who exactly are you talking about, password and his gang or my belief in the Jesus Christ.
“Look, bad stuff happened, but you STOPPED it”. RC you are correct about that and I just appreciate the point you make.
But, as for me and my house, Jesus Christ is our Lord & Saviour and He alone has helped me in a time in my life that a direction had to be made. I have something more wonderful than gold or evolution can come close too and that’s a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. My friend there is power in the Gospel. RC you call it phoney-baloney, but the lives are transformed by the WORD of GOD for the better.
RC let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.
RC and the password gang, i thank you for the kindness you have shown me.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
RC, “It’s going to take a few years and he still has to go through the crushing disappointment of realizing the limitations of the half-cure he has temporarily settled for, but that fervor is a big give-away, he is not feeling very secure with the current situation”.
interesting statement about me RC. Honestly, you can say this about a family being broken up because of the lack of love we once had, the vow before each other, to love and care for each other in sickness and in health and what about his son and the family.
what can wash away our sins RC? nothing but the blood of Jesus,
What would you tell a child, that mom and dad love each other, oh the fervor is a big give-away.
Tell me RC, where is mum and dad now? tell this child there is no hope, this my friend will cause a rip in the time-space continuum.
oh “the crushing disappointment of realizing” that we are sinners. oh, the child and his heart. password tell this child you still love his mummy and respect her like when you first loved her.
January 24th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
“what can wash away our sins RC? nothing but the blood of Jesus”
I love the fact that as long as someone is talking about the blood of the Christian jesus it’s totally ok, but the moment I start talking about drinking delicious baby blood I’m labeled a “madman” or “baby-killer”.
January 24th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
i reckon a nice cold beer at the end of a hot day can do a better job of washing away our sins.
at least its real :)
January 24th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
jayman, clearly you’ve never had baby blood.
January 24th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
of course every depraved atheist has chugged a pint glass or two of our partners deliberately conceived and aborted foetus blood stem cells, particularly while engaged in sodomy with her father.
i just dont like the rusty taste.
January 25th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
what can wash away our sins RC? nothing but the blood of Jesus
What, are you recommending washing with blood? A blood-bath perhaps? Well that would explain GWBs policy in iraq…
