Here is a permanent home for the 12 Muhammed caricatures that were printed in the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten. If you don’t have a sense of humor then leave. They are just cartoons and nothing more. Comments will be enabled on here so please feel free to leave them. Keep it civil and please don’t storm my website with RPGs and machine guns. Oh, flag burning is unacceptable aswell. But feel free to boycot my site as that is a peaceful means of protest.

bence insanlar her konuda düşüncelerini söylemeye özgürdür ancak bunu bir başkasının inancıyla dalga geçerek yapmak çok küçültücü bir davranış. benim dinimde peygamber bildiğim Hz. As for me I am a Christian. If somebody made a caricature of Christ or other religious symbol of my religion. I would go agaist anyone that instigates or did violence.
Violence reflects babdly on who practice it not on the one that receives it.
Just remember my Turkish frends (God willing) one day Turky will be also rapresented with my country and also Denmark in the EU then perhaps our cultures will be better understood.

Türkiyeli arkadaÅŸlar, ben türkler tarafından fethedilmiÅŸ bir ülkede doÄŸdum. 1665′te gerçekleÅŸen Osmanlı KuÅŸatmasından bahsediyorum. Bu uzun zaman önceydi. Aramızdaki problem hep din farklılıkları oldu. Lütfen bugünde yaÅŸayalım ve bir araya gelme, anlaÅŸma yolları arayalım.
Tüm bu olanlara raÄŸmen Hz. Muhammed (ona saygı duyuyorum ve ruhu ÅŸad olsun) öteki dünyada Allah’ın ona sundukları ile birlikte. Bu karikatürler ona nasıl zarar verebilir?

TO LOGIC - i do not know if, writing turkish is appropriate, in such an english using web-site. but, i’ll translate your words into turkish. yesterday, i translated shamus’ message and it helped the dialogue.
i think, if we could manage dialogue with each other. we should think more positive and try to respect each other more. our problem is mostly stereotypes and lack of dialogue… including those caricatures.

Simply because whatever your caricatures of that sort is insulting and those with moral wouldnt do such a thing. Its not just Islam but to all the religion in this world. Just be tolerate and thinks of others. “Cant we just get along?”

I hope, it becomes the last. and I agree we do not try to prove that we are MORE innocent than others. And others do not try to prove also that they are MORE innocent than us.
The problem is Murders! In fact, those “we”s are empty languages. I am me, you are you, he is he and she is she. If anyone who claims himself/herself as a muslim; and kills someone; then how come I can be called as a criminal? Same for every people in each languages.
History is not a burden. I’ve born in 1982. Do I carry all the wars, peaces, crimes of “my” history? Do you carry? Or does anybody is responsible for the crimes of the past? Please tell me… I do not believe such a thing.
I live in Turkey, and I can give information what I read in various newspapers. The guy was a teenager. The mystery of the event still has not solved. Who provoked him is still a question mark. In Turkey, people I see, are sad and anxious because of this event.
I think, we experience such a era that we are so alienalized. We act like aliens to each other and to ourselves. The pain of wars should not be forgot.!

Christ changed all that and taught the way of tollerance. I’m not saying that each and every one of us is practiceing his religion as we should. Most of the time we should act according to the spirit of the religion not to what is written. All religons speak of love.
If we had to act according to the law of Moses most of the people in the world will be blind and toohless.

I believe that this is nothing more than I call “dirty politics”.
I also agree that the caricatures are inappropriate. They are inappropriate for my way of life. But, just like you, I do not want anyone to die or to kill for these rubbish.
As a muslim person, I think some of the western people start to believe more that muslims are violent.
And, some of the muslim people in the middle east, start to believe more that the west does not like them, and hate them.
So, if any state(s) want to make a war, they can easily find supporters.
In the Iraqi occupation, most of the world, there were protests against the war. Because, people were still sensible. even the common people joined these protests. And that occupation became a part of the tragedies of the history. There were no nuclear weapon there. But, people both from Iraq and American soldiers died! This is a shame of humanity.
Now, if anyone(namely U.S.A. government) occupies Iran, then there will not be enough protesters. Because, people started to separate as “muslims” and as “the west”….. This is a politcal game nelly, and it is not funny even.
I think, as clever people, muslims or christians and most important as humans,
we’ve to decide something: TO PROMOTE PEACE and TO ASK FOR PEACE… we should write everywhere peace. We should find a way. Because war is torture of humanity, they are not glory. as you know nelly.

What is written in the holy coran does not apply to the Danish newspaper Jyllands.
It is a question of mentality. For the Danes it must have been just another cartoon, somting to be seen and forgoten.

We have to be tollerant with each other. Do you think Mohammed would approve of violence ? If you answer is yes, then islam needs to be revised.

We are in the world 6,5 milliards peoples. So you can not expect that all will respect the muslim or islamic beliefs. Like no one can expect that all this persons should belive in God or in Jesus (and there are a lot more religions on this earth). It is clear that will be persons who will disrespect you and your religion, like they do for me and my religion.
Everyboby makes mistakes, act direspectful regarding another person. Even me, sometimes my best friend consider that I’m stupid and act irational. I’m sure that you must have something similar in your life to. But we allways can talk and understand each other, if not understand, at least we accept our choises. If we dissagree about something important, then our ways will separate, but we will not kill each other.
So from 6,5 milliards peoples, a percentage of them will disrespect you (or disrespect what you belive in) . The solution is not to kill him. Is to tolerate.
So my word for all of you who act in violence is TOLERATE. We have to tolerate each other, so we can live all on the same earth, under the same sky.
Why they made this cartoons? Why? Stop asking why. It is clear that not because they like Muhammed. But we have to tolerate their opinions, even if these opinions are in contradiction to our beliefs.

It appears that only muslims are irritated to the point of commiting violent acts.
Surf the internet and you will most probably find “offenceive” cartoons about every religion.
Is violence part of any religion?
Why commit acts of distruction in the name of a religious leader or religion?

I didn’t go through and read every single entry in here, but I did want to say that I don’t think these cartoons are in very good taste, but I also don’t think that they are cause to go on violent riots. Obviously, if someone had made a mean cartoon about Jesus, the Christians/Catholics/whatevers would all be up-in-arms. I don’t think the Islamic religion can be blamed, but the extremists who give it a bad name. When people have nothing, they turn to religion and become slightly extremist. This is what is happening now with Muslims (look at the state of the Middle East) and it’s what happened with the Christians during the Crusades. All of this goes in patterns and cycles, so it’s not fair to say Islam is a bad religion, because it’s not, and no religion is. It is completely fair, however, to speak out against the violence and extremism, which no one should complain about/be offended by.

Thank you for actually posting the drawings. As a Dane living abroad I had no idea as to what was really going on in my home country.
A little background for the drawings: The project was being made as a protest (and a press gimmick, without a doubt) after an illustrator of a Danish book about Muhammed had to be anonymous because of the risk of revenge from radical Muslims. I can only support that protest (even though the form of the protest is provocative) - freedom of speech is extremely important to me. Furthermore, I believe that religious laws should be for the followers of that religion only, not for the rest of the world. I mean, think of the chaos there would be if we should all follow every religious rule ever made…
Having said that, I don’t think anybody in Denmark had a clue as to what the drawings would mean for the Muslim community. Caricatures are often made in Denmark as a normal part of everyday life - and they are often quite harsh. To a Dane there is absolutely nothing obscene about these drawings - but I understand that the prohibition against drawing the prophet is much more important than we imagined. I beg you to understand the cultural context in which the drawings were made; the whole case is a normal part of Danish debate culture and not an attempt to humiliate an entire religion.
What worries me is the political implications of the matter. The whole mess has been made even more unclear by third parties who have been promoting their own causes and has been showing different drawings or translated our poor queen’s statements inaccurately. What makes me most suspicious is the fact that the drawings were published in September and haven’t been made known worldwide until know; and the case is quite a convenient tool to unite Muslims in poor countries and make them forget their discontent about their own governments… And just to make it clear: the newspaper “Jyllands-Posten” has nothing to do with the Danish government (or with my political views whatsoever)!
I hope you could use the info - websites like this is what keeps up my hopes for democratic dialogue.

By the way: Why are the last caricature censored?? It’s not a silly cartoon, quite the opposite: It shows very clearly that in Denmark - which is at thoroughly non-religious community - the name “Muhammed” doesn’t give the average Dane associations towards religion, but towards the boy next door. As a clou, the name on his shirt means “future”. A part from that, I think he is writing quite clever things on the blackboard…

I agree what you’ve said. And it is both peaceful and political for me, too. However, there’s the point that some people produce institutionalized politics. That is, some people try to manage others by media bombings, by distorted news… and after those manipulations, the nationalism and religious fundemantalism get power…
In the Second World War, German citizens (except the Jews, homosexuals and the gypsies) were thinking that they are in the glorious way. If I’d ask them, I’m sure that they were good people for themselves and some of them were good for their relatives and for some neighboors, too. But, a silly war occured which has just caused death.
A country’s happiness is not enough for the sustainable peace, I think. Being good and fair is nice, but sometimes -and mostly- we have disability to concern ‘other’s wellbeing. So, this turns out to be a human-made disaster.
I think, peaceful people (at least, trying to be peaceful.. and people who hates wars and killings of any kind) should get over their separation. In a way, I hope, people -who are not thristy for blood and seek for corpses- can find a way to make a big difference together. But, I dont know what is that :) I want to establish a country in Neptune, in fact. But this is just impossible now.
But, killing any other people for the sake of politic agendas, should also be as impossible as my imaginary country in Neptune. However, it happened in history. It happens today… and if reasonable people do not see and care the stereotyping of media, the chance of peace decreases. I believe in peace, not war.
May be, I should search for a peace organizations.. but, I am not sure if they are “free” from dirty politics, too.

Help the people around you and maybe they will help others and eventually many lives will be bettered. Their is only so much one person can do but if many people work to make life for others better, then maybe our world can change.

additionally, most of the turks that give violent reactions here, think that “you” try to erase islam in the world. (my neurons in my brain started to fail I guess, I started to laugh at this point. I’ll look at the caricatures, may be I might laugh at them, too.)

I’m not completely against those caricatures. It doesn’t mean anything, and may be only for laughing. But you see how the situations shape. It is just because every people have a high-tensioned point. So you have to respect, not to cause more tension. If you don’t, you can not describe yourself as human.
And,
Please ignore who is just daring to insult you and the denmark team. They are just making their religion to be shown worse.
But Islam is not terror. The terrorists are people, not religions. You shouldn’t count all religious people Terrorists.

Shamus, we should see that the world is tried to be shaped under the influence of various media organs. Each country tries to play its “role” in the games of politics.
But, I -personally- do not want to take a role in such a bloody game. It does not make me excited, it just makes me anxious. And this is not the feeling that I want to add to myself in this life-time.
So many people, from every country, buys the arguements of the media and the governments. So, some fool jums into a fire pot, others start to jump one by one. This is not fair! For none of us.
If my country asks me to fight, I am not sure what to do. I do not see fighting for the sake of killing, is a precious way of action. I think, it has nearly similar to die. …personally, my father is a colonal in the turkish army, and i saw the death of our neighboors… so, who gained? So, what is the victory. And what is freedom? (I ask ironically here …..)
IF a war exists, I hope I perish before it begins. I mean it. I think, to fight or try to provoke others or to swear.. all these things are more coward than being a ressistor a war.
We -as humans- try for Peace.. but, how?

My general idea is this: if muslims can not tolerate some drawings (no matter with what) and they react in large groups and with such a violence, like they do now, then I’m sure that it will be very difficult for all of us to live together happyly ever after.

We all come in to this world and then one day we will leave it. What happens before and after life is up to your beliefs, but the fact of the matter is we are all human. We feel the same emotions, we eat food and drink water to survive and we breath the same air. So if we are the same then why are we fighting and insensitive to others. The cartoonists should have known that these pictures would hurt someone’s feelings so why do that. What is the point of causing pain? We live in a world with enough pain as it is their is no need for more.
I once saw a movie in which a little boy gave three good deeds to three different people and each of the deed receivers had to give three good deeds to three other people and so on. The point is that good works brings happiness and peace which is important to everyone no matter who you are and what your beliefs are. If we are to change the world we have to do it ourselves.
