Here is a permanent home for the 12 Muhammed caricatures that were printed in the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten. If you don’t have a sense of humor then leave. They are just cartoons and nothing more. Comments will be enabled on here so please feel free to leave them. Keep it civil and please don’t storm my website with RPGs and machine guns. Oh, flag burning is unacceptable aswell. But feel free to boycot my site as that is a peaceful means of protest.

Well,I see that not much has changed since this discussion started. Everybody’s upest with each other and thinks that the other side does not care. Are natural disasters the only time we set aside our differences and finally work together for the common good of the misplaced, injured, or killed citizens of this earth?
I am truly upset that all of us cannot HONOR each others differences and accept the idea that we are not the same yet we are equal. Look at ALL of the wars that have been fought over religion. Does anybody honestly believe that our supreme beings really wanted the wars? Do we think that this is a big game to see how fast we can kill each other off?
I was raised in the USA in the south during the time when people of color were looked down upon as second class citizens. I am ashamed to admit that I too was very prejudiced, When I joined the army, I got into a fight with three other white men and a black man who barely knew me helped me to win. When the fight was over, he and I were bleeding. Guess what, BOTH OF US WERE BLEEDING RED BLOOD. There was no difference between us except he had a better tan than me. This single moment in my life STOPPED my prejudiced behavior. I NEVER looked upon any person again as being beneath or below me or even different. Maybe everybody should calm down, stand next to someone from a different ethnic background and TALK to each other. It might help.
Its a shame really when you think about it. Like all religions, the message of Islam is truly one of peace. Go figure, by the stuff we see large numbers of them doing. Religions are like radio/TV/newspaper competing for a market share of our souls. With 1.2 Billion Subscribers Islam is #2 in the ratings and climbing. But they have to respect that means 80% of the population of this planet does not subscribe to their point of view and our opinions and rights to express ourselves cannot be denied. I think that these cartoons are hardly offensive and can’t believe that anyone who belives in something as Peaceful as Islam is supposed to be, could be driven to violence of such magnitude by a drawing.

Another point to make when talking about our cultural differences, look at how fast the USA and other industrialized nations react when a natural disaster strikes. We send all kinds of money, military equipment, transports, food and supplies in unbelievable quantities, water making ships, and personnel to help. We then get accused by the Muslim population of not doing enough. Where were all of these countries when we got hit by TWO devastating Hurricanes last year? I know some civilized countries sent money, but I worked the disasters and never saw any workers come in from any countries except Mexico. (Thank you Mexico). What is wrong with this picture. By watching this unfold and seeing the lack of response from all over the world to our crisis, it convinced me to NEVER give my money to disasters outside of my countries borders. If all of you who are spouting love and peace really felt that way, you would have made sure to help the country that always helps everybody whether we like you or not. Instead you sat by the sidelines and simply told us what we did wrong.
In Iraq, not only did we get a cruel and vicious leader out of control, we are trying to rebuild your schools and hospitals and your infrastructure, but your fanatics keep blowing things up. They live in houses next to you and you do nothing. They build bombs, strap them on and go kill YOUR loved ones and what do you do? NOTHING! Nothing but blame us. WE want your children in good schools. We want you to be able to go shopping in a market without fear, but you keep giving safe haven to the fanatics in the name of Allah and then allowing them to destroy your country. What part of this makes sense to you? With all of the money we have to spend on security in Iraq, we could have rebuilt your entire country twice and you would have had the most beautiful country in your area. Jobs would be flourishing, education would be the best you could have, hospitals would be modernized, but it won’t happen because you do NOTHING to help. Maybe I’m not thinking clearly, but if my neighbor (even if he is a christian as I am) was going to blow up something in my neighborhood, I think I’d notify somebody before it happened. Oh well, enough of my rambling, let’s all learn to get along and give that a try for 21 centuries, it hasn’t worked in the last 21.

The current uproar ignores the fact that Islam has a long artistic history of depicting its prophet (pbuh), usually with his face veiled (like Moses, pbuh). Granted, the depictions from the Islamic tradition are respectful to the prophet; moreover the tradtion had controversy over the depictions when religious conservatives held political power. One painting of the prophet is currently on display at the Art Institute of Chicago. The Islamic fundies are using this issue for their gains, ignoring history in favor of their own views that are at odds with the Islamic tradition. Don’t forget that Christian fundies bombed theateres that showed the film adaptation of Kazantzakis’ novel “The Last Temptation of Christ.”

Great site…many comments that are thought provoking, and perhaps more that realize how little thought is going on in the world.
To some of the angered muslim respondents: Memebers of your own faith have done far more in the way of isolating members of your faith and creating mistrust of Islam than any cartoon ever has. A god or prophet who prefesses the protection of his own name over the lives of people is a prophet that has been misunderstood, and finally…anyone defending the right of protesters to destroy, kill, and maim is in the wrong without question.
For the others degrading the entire faith of Islam… try not to let your anger bring you down to their level. There is a reason that terrorist hide, detonate bombs from afar, and strap their wives/ daughters with bombs. They need to survive like rats in the world because they are no better.

Hi everybody! I have a comment on this heated discussion. When movies like “Dogma” and “The Passion of Christ” was relased, movies that criticize Christianity in some aspects quite heavily, there were a lot of loud complaints from Christian people. However, I did not hear of any embassy that got attacked and certainly not that someone got killed! Furthermore, these Muhammed caricatures were just simple drawings and still made things burn and people die. Think about a movie similar to the ones above but about Muhammed and Islam instead…oh my, the world would crumble in the fire caused by the wrath of the muslims!
